Dem Rep Dingell: It’s Taken a Long Time to Control the People – Updated

Rep. John Dingell (D-MI) was interviewed on a Detroit talk show Monday morning. His answer to a question by the host, Paul W. Smith, offers a little insight into the thinking of the progressives in Washington, DC.

Let me remind you this [Americans allegedly dying because of lack of universal health care] has been going on for years. We are bringing it to a halt. The harsh fact of the matter is when you’re going to pass legislation that will cover 300 [million] American people in different ways it takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people.

Well, at least he’s honest.

These people don’t get that they are sent to Washington to represent the people, not control them.

Oh, isn’t it historic?

Listen to the podcast here.

Update: Via Breitbart

I heard that Dingell is backing away from the comment, saying he misspoke because he was tired. Yeah right. These people think of us as cattle who need herding. Nothing more, nothing less.

Update: Memeorandum has a thread on this now.

We are being given so many “gifts” from the left as of recent. Alcee Hastings, John Dingall, even from B.O. himself. If our side doesn’t capitalize on this, we’ll be snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. This is choice ad campaign material and if the RNC can’t see that and sticks it’s nose up, we have big problems and an internal shake up is in order.

They used to call “controlling the people” slavery. Just a matter of whose ox got gored.

It is called Tyranny of the Majority.
Unfortunately there are people like O’Reilly
who think that telling the truth is ‘over the top’
    and ‘heated rhetoric’ or ‘hyperbole’.
If you try to describe what the Bolsheviks did in Russia
in 1917 it would definitely sound ‘over the top’
but they did in fact institute mass murder and did
in fact create a totalitarian police state. The Russians
thought it would go away – they were too late, because the
commies had consolidated power by the time the people figured
    it out.

Thanks, Physics Nut. O’Reilly is a loony toon. He is just now getting to the realization that there is a leftward bias in the media. Jane Fonda was his “patriot” the other night. Thought I would blow chunks.
