Michael Moore: 250,000 Killed in Haiti Because it’s a ‘Republican Paradise’

Does anyone listen to this slob? What a typical lefty. The fact that he manages to make a living really says something about Americans.

For those of you who agree with Moore – building codes are local. And without a strong economy nobody can afford to to build strong structures. If Haiti’s government weren’t so corrupt and inept perhaps the people would have had the resources to build structures that can withstand an earthquake. It would have been in their own interest, with or without a mandate or building code.

Addendum: Even without regulations, most structures are mortgaged these days. Mortgage companies and insurers have requirements in order to secure financing and insurance. So even without government regulations, anyplace with a robust private sector will be better off than places like Haiti.

The over the top rhetoric by people like Mr. Moore who claim that in the GOP world they would relish the idea of NO regulations.

That simply is NOT true. Never has been and never will be.

Regulations are good. We indeed need a government that will regulate business for the best interests of the community at large.

The debate has always been “WHAT IS THE BEST INTEREST”???

IN fact most businesses value regulation. If it was not for regulations most businesses would not exist. Exxon would own all the oil because it has the most money.

Walmart would run everyone out of business by building in a town and then coming into that town and giving their stuff away free for a year until everyone was out of business but them……and then gouging the city to get their money back.

NO…Its simply not true that the GOP is opposed to regulation….but their comes a time when too much regulation is simply too much. So the GOP fights for limited regulation while the progressive left fights for massive regulations and perhaps….

somewhere in the MIDDLE the two sides will meet.

What a disgustingly cheap shot by Moore. Someone needs to remind him that in the U.S., OSHA was created by the Nixon administration. This is not a party issue, it’s about a money and corruption. Building regulations are the products of investment protection by financing partings like LC mentioned. Anyone that’s done any work with concrete knows the importance of rebar in the structure. It significantly strengthens the monolith and helps immensely in keeping it together if shifting or heaving occurs, like in an earthquake. In a severe quake, unreinforced concrete can crack and crumble like chalk.

Actually, dumbass needs to wake up to the fact that if there was a Republican paradise in Latin America, Chile (earthquakes notwithstanding) would be the closest thing to it.

    *Free Market Economic system
    *Robust Middle Class
*Abundant Natural Resources (copper, timber, fish) that aren’t witheld to placate whacko environmentalists
    *Open Elections
*Latin America’s best-trained and least corrupt military and law-enforcement.
*Conservative President-elect that booted out the Left-Leaning President.

Sounds alot more appealing that this 10-gallon ass-sombrero of stupidity’s idea of paradise (i.e. Chavez’s Venezuela; Castro’s Cuba, etc etc)
