They have closed the areas that are most coveted to offshore drilling and they are opening up areas that the oil companies have no desire to drill in. Just a week or so ago Ken Salazar let slip that Obama was going with a 3 year moratorium on offshore drilling all together. Since he has had a change of heart because it was part of his campaign pledge to allow for drilling. Just like out west. Some of the greatest areas for oil are under the Rockies. The problem is that the costs would be staggering and the water needs would simply bar most drilling. So guess where most of the new leases that include acreage is included in bragging about how much land is available for drilling but them DAYUM oil companies dont want to drill cause it will rise the price of gas. Yep in the rockies where the costs are prohibitive even if they did discover Oil. Not only finding it would be expensive but bringing it to market would be equally so. The price of Oil would need to be about 200 dollars per barrel and holding steady for it to be even remotely profitable for the oil companies. Do not be fooled by anything this president does when it comes to Energy. He is a progressive and progressives hate the oil and gas industry. They are greeniacs. That is why he has proposed building nukes. He knows that nukes will be tied up in federal courts for years by his own people while he himself can continue appearing to be a moderate, centrist president. Its the Alinsky trick. Tell them anything to get your way. This is a political move.
