Obamacare’s Tanning Tax Already in Effect – The Worst is Yet to Come

I guess I shouldn’t complain, I don’t go to tanning salons. A lot of Obama’s young voters do. So sorry!

Bloomberg: Indoor tanning salons will charge customers a 10 percent tax beginning today in just one of the changes Americans will see as a result of the U.S. health-care overhaul signed into law by President Barack Obama.

A few goodies will be available pretty soon, in an effort to build support for this awful legislation.

Insurers will be required by September to begin providing health coverage to kids with pre-existing illnesses and allow parents to keep children younger than 26 on their plans as the clock has begun ticking on many of the law’s provisions. Medicare recipients will receive a $250 rebate for prescription drugs when they reach a coverage gap called the donut hole if the Senate passes and the president signs companion legislation approved March 21 by the U.S. House.

But the worst is put off until – you guessed it – after the next presidential election.

The $940 billion overhaul subsidizes coverage for uninsured Americans, financed by Medicare cuts to hospitals and fees or taxes on insurers, drugmakers, medical-device companies and Americans earning more than $200,000 a year. Many of the changes in the bill of more than 2,400 pages, such as requiring most people to have health insurance and employers to provide coverage, will take at least two years to go into effect.

“Most of the major public policy changes embodied in the health care reform legislation will become effective only after the next presidential election in 2012,” said Maury Harris, an economist with UBS AG, said in a research report.

Isn’t that convenient. Hope and change = smoke and mirrors.

Oh, and there is nothing in this bill to protect health care for veterans. I guess they’ll eventually be lumped in with everyone else, everyone but the political elites, that is.

The Bloomberg story actually says it will start in July. You wrote it will start today. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aa32kl.M09T4

They changed that since it was initially published. The above quote was copied directly from their story. Video added, tanning salons began charging the tax yesterday.

Cool thanks. Theres nothing this guy won’t do to ruin our way of life and pocket books. The solution isn’t to let Big Bro take care of or tax your way out of a debt. Crazy. Good work as always

Fascinating that not one single Liberal voter has figured out that the President and Senior Democrat leaders are exempt from obamacare. And I’m only just beginning to see mention that Obama’s promises of not one tax on the middle class – they’ve been broken too with this bill.

Interestingly, I found out that this might’ve been just about the only way to get the young ‘uns interested in opposing 0bamacare.

0bama’s all about the hopenchange and gonna usher in a new era until whoa! wait a sec! Whaddaya mean you’re going to tax our tanning beds?

THAT’S when the petitons begin to circulate……

Also forgot to mention…..didn’t they have a choice between taxing this or taxing more expensive cosmetic surgeries and procedures?

They went with this, even though the people who frequent tanning salons are likely to be much poorer than those who get the plastic surgery.

They want a crippling tax on pizza, not arugula or filet mignon
They want a crippling tax on beer, not pricey cabernet sauvignon
They want a crippling tax on cigarettes, not deluxe imported cigars

And then, every election year, these progressives feign solidarity with the working class and tell them they’re out to help the ‘little guy’…..
