Onondaga County Republican Party Endorses Ann Marie Buerkle for NY 25 Race – Update – Maffei Camp Calls Her ‘Extreme,’ ‘Conservative’

Ann Marie Buerkle‘s picked up the endorsement of the Onondaga County Republican Party to run against Keynesian Rep. Dan Maffei in NY 25.

9WSYR: Her congressional bid was endorsed by the Republican Party Wednesday night at the Oncenter. “I’m excited, and I’m so grateful to the people of the 25th congressional district. I will work hard to get this seat back for everyone who lives here. And I will be the voice for the 25th congressional district,” she said after the nomination.

Buerkle was endorsed over two other republican candidates, Mark Bitz and Paul Bertan. If those candidates stay in the race, they may still force a primary.

To be honest, I don’t know very much about Ann Marie Buerkle. She’s picked up the Conservative Party nomination in five counties, so she’s probably alright. The local news coverage has been abysmal.

I don’t know if Mark Bitz will challenge her in a primary. I sent an email to his campaign but I haven’t heard back. He’s picked up the GOP nod in Cayuga County. As for Bertan, I thought he had already dropped out of the race, and I doubt he’ll mount a primary challenge.

I’ll try to find out more about Buerkle in the next few days and fill you in.

Update: I’ll be talking to Buerkle some time in the next few days, hopefully. The Post Standard reported the Maffei campaign had this to say about Buerkle:

“I’m surprised the Republican Party insiders chose a candidate who is so far outside the mainstream,” McNally said in a statement. “They seem to want the most extreme, most conservative, most obstructionist candidate they could find.”

Heh. I like her already!

One last thing – still no word on Mark Bitz’s plans.

I hope you can replace Maffei this cycle. To find out about her, maybe it’s as easy as picking up the phone and chatting. Who knows, maybe she’ll get an endorsement from Doug Hoffman; he’s definitely got name recognition now.

I’d take just about anyone including the Trix Rabbit over Dan Buffon.

I just heard back from her, we’re setting up an interview. I’m going to update the post. Dan Maffei doesn’t like her, so she must be doing something right.

By simple definition the “R” next to the name means extreme to certain people.

Really? I could not disagree with you more, but I am far from impartial.

Dan “Milquetoast” Maffei got elected due to voter apathy and he ran on his close associations with such notable scum as Charlie Rangel, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Now he teams up with equally as despicable Chucky Schumer to introduce more distracting and useless union supportive bills on our backs. He is a lapdog for Pelosi and nothing more…he is weak, indecisive, deceitful and for all intensive purposes to our area – useless. Oh wait one local “free” health care supporter siad he was a “good listener”. So is a corpse.

Oh, heck I forgot his close (financial) association with the likes of Anti-American George Soros and his many subversive organizations like MoveOn.org. Let’s not forget SEIU and Acorn…..lots of $$ coming from all these folks for Dan…..they know a tool when they see one.

As an old style conservative, I am concerned that the Party still does not recognize the need to rectify mistakes made during the Bush administrations. We went deep into debt because the Republican Congress refused to pay the increased costs of the war in Iraq by raising taxes, but instead borrowed from China and other countries. Why is the party berating Obama for borrowing to get us out of a recession when it did the same thing to pay for a war? If we had paid for the war at the time, we never would have had the debt we have now. I am looking for honesty, not labels. A conservative pays his bills and his debts and he does not borrow unless it is absolutely necessary. One other item, Tom DeLay was NOT a conservative, he was a spendthrift crook. If the Republican Party goes back to leadership of his kind, it will lose me completely.
