You know when the MSM beats up on a US Senator, he must be doing something right

Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) is getting pummeled by the press, and the Democrats, for singlehandedly causing 2000 federal worker furloughs, and holding up unemployment benefits for hundreds of thousands of Americans. It’s been irritating me for two days.

Yesterday at work I had to use the copy machine and a coworker came over and we started to chat. She mentioned that “awful” Republican who’s holding everything up. I had trouble keeping my voice down. I explained that he was simply attempting to get the majority to follow their own rules. They passed a “paygo” or “pay as you go” law, meaning that by their own rules they are required to pay for any spending bills. They aren’t paying for this bill. They’ll rack up more debt.

I don’t think I changed her mind, she believes the government is the answer for everything, at least when the government is controlled by progressive Democrats. But she also wasn’t able to refute anything I said, so I guess I won the argument.

This morning Mike Church was talking about it. He said he was starting a Jim Bunning fan club. Count me in!

The Democrats can start paying for this $10 billion bill by scrapping Obama’s ridiculous cash for caulkers waste. That’s $6 billion right there. They can take the other $4 billion out of their leftover Porkulus slush fund. Isn’t that easy? That’s all they’d have to do.  But that’s not as much fun as bashing a Republican, or sending their slush fund to their biggest donors. As for the cash for caulkers, didn’t he already try that? And how did that turn out?

Disclaimer: I’m not personally in favor of any of this increased spending, but if they’re hell bent on spending it, Bunning is right in asking them to pay for it.
