Governor Jindal’s Campaign Finance Director Assaulted in French Quarter – Updated and Bumped

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal’s campaign finance director was assaulted over the weekend.

NOLA: Allee Bautsch suffered a broken leg and her boyfriend suffered a concussion and a fractured nose and jaw in the incident, which happened after a fundraising event at Brennan’s Restaurant on behalf of the Louisiana Republican Party on Friday evening.

Jindal was at the fund-raising event at the restaurant, but was not present when the incident occurred.

Kyle Plotkin, a Jindal spokesman, said Bautsch had surgery during the weekend and is facing a recovery time of two to three months.

I imagine three scenarios, two are likely.

1-A tea partier assaulted Ms. Bautsch. (Not at all likely.)

2-This was a random attack.

3-Ms. Bautsch was assaulted by left wing zealots.

Whatever happened, I wish her the best and hope she has a speedy recovery.

Update: Via Gateway Pundit we have our answer. It’s #3. So, what made the left wing nut cases beat Ms. Bautsch and her boyfriend? Sarah Palin buttons. There had been a left wing protest in the area shortly before the attack occurred.

So, which side is violent and dangerous again?

Update 2: Michelle Malkin has been in touch with Jindal’s office and the couple did not have Palin pins or buttons on. Apparently that was a rumor. Sorry about that. This doesn’t rule out option 3, the case is still under investigation.

Update 3: The Hayride provides a time line of the assault and the reporting on it. There’s also a reminder that there was quite a bit of violence in New Orleans over the weekend, and the police down there have had their hands full.
