The big story at memeorandum tonight is that the “Tea Party” candidate for New York governor, Carl Paladino, sent or forwarded a bunch of racist emails. I don’t know that much about the guy. I heard about him but didn’t take him seriously, and to be honest, my first thought was “Oh great, he’ll run as an Indy and we’ll be sure to have another Cuomo as our next governor.”
I know our local Tea Party group doesn’t endorse candidates. A quick search indicates he’s spoken at some Tea Parties and some of the folks liked what they heard and apparently thought it would be a good idea to draft this guy to run for governor.
He’s not denying that he sent the emails. From what I have read about him, he’s not a liberal plant, but stranger things have happened. He said he’ll be continuing his campaign. He might want to save his money. And Tea Party groups might want to do a better job vetting candidates, or foregoing endorsing candidates altogether.

So, let me get this straight:
We have a POTUS who went to a church for twenty years to listen to a racist, anti-Semite spew out hate speech; A VP who makes racist comments about how people need to have Indian accents to go into a 7-11 these days; a former KKK member Dem. Senator who made disgusting racist remarks about MLK Jr. and said the “n-word” on national TV a bunch of times; and a Dem. Senate Majority leader who’s glad that Obama doesn’t have a “Negro dialect”.
And the Lefties are in a tizzy about some obscure candidate who doesn’t stand a chance in h-ll of winning?
Maybe Carl Paladino should become a Democrat- he’d fit right in with those racist bozos.

“And Tea Party groups might want to do a better job vetting candidates, or foregoing endorsing candidates altogether.”
Indeed, the greatest danger is that they’ll end up supporting Republicans.

I’m with you TLC.
I heard of the guy about 5 days ago and it does seem as though some Tea Party groups were looking into a guy, but I think the hype today is far bigger than the substance.
