Glenn Beck talked about Joel Rogers the other night on his Fox show. Rogers is a professor at the University of Wisconsin, and the founder of The New Party, a Chicago socialist party. It’s previously been documented (see here and here) that Barack Obama was the candidate of The New Party, despite his denials. Beck pointed out that former SEIU boss Andy Stern called Rogers the “wizard” who shaped their movement.
What he was referring to is the coalition between progressives and big labor. Here’s Joel Rogers speaking at Columbia University back in 1996, laying out his vision for the progressive transformation of America. It seems like his dreams are coming true. He demonized business and capitalism. He said progressives needed cash, specifically, cash from the labor unions. “Imagine what a little cash would enable all of us to do.” [We don't have to imagine anymore. We're living it.]
He also talked about marrying the American notion of equal opportunity to equal access to material resources. He said that they would feed, house and insure all of the children so eventually they would grow up and vote for national health insurance. He wanted to check the power of business and “impose human values” and said that “together we could rule America.”
But we’re not supposed to believe Obama has a socialist agenda? Obama’s a progressive, progressives are socialists. We’re now seeing that everything Rogers was advocating in 1996 is happening or has already happened. What more do we need to know?
But here’s the problem. The utopia imagined by Rogers and Obama doesn’t exist. Sure, it can work for a while, but eventually the bill comes due. When that happens it’s not going to be pretty. Look what’s happening in Greece – riots and anarchy! How long will it take before that starts happening here? I’ll tell you when. When the markets decide to stop lending to us. When that happens, when it all comes tumbling down, which side will be rioting in the streets? I doubt it will the the tea party folks. They’ll be busy figuring out how to survive and protect themselves. No, it will be the radical left, and those who have been sucking off the public teet forever when they finally realize the gravy train has come to a halt.

Oh yeah, go to this link and down load a few of these juicy tidbits of Marxist / Progressive thinking and most importantly, implementation. Scary stuff; note the individuals he thanks in some of his pieces. I especially like #169.

I always wondered why unions would go for massive immigration, unless there is some ulterior political motive, but I guess they need a “United Front” among
all the weirdos, kooks, perverts and commies in their activist base. I wonder if it is like the League of Nations, where they were together in public, but planning to go their own way in any case.
