This story really tells us something about our culture today.
Fox Nation: A New England school district has approved a measure that will provide free condoms to elementary school students and direct teachers not to comply with parental wishes to the contrary.
The policy, unanimously approved by the Provincetown School Committee does not include an age limit — meaning children of any age ask for — and receive — free condoms.
The committee also directed school leaders not to honor requests from any parent who might object to their child receiving condoms. In other words mommy and daddy — you don’t have a right to prevent your 7-year-old from getting a contraceptive device.
Good grief. But kids can’t pray in school?
Update: I was thinking Providence, not Provincetown when I wrote the title to this post, which incorrectly said the district is in Rhode Island. My apologies.

The teachers are Schizophrenic: They IGNORE the wishes of the parents for this but CRY that parents aren’t involved enough in their children’s education.

If a school directs this, which apparently have, it really says something that the teachers would comply.
Parents are the last frontier. It will be interesting to see if they tell this school district and teachers who they work for and advise them to find another job.
Sigh.

Last time I checked, schools are supposed to teach our kids about reading, writing, math, etc… not for making moral decisions for parents. This school district has way overstepped its bounds. It is time that all citizens band together and show the government what their role is and let them know if they can’t handle that role, they are welcome to find a different job because there are many other people probably more capable and more qualified for their plush jobs. It is time for the government to get a reality check of major proportions. November 2010 needs to strike fear in the hearts of all politicians that if they ignore the people who employ them as representatives, they will be fired and replaced.
I think all parents in this school district who are appalled by this decision should pull their kids from public schools and either go private or home school and watch the school district come crawling back when they have no students.

Another outrageous act by the chief indoctrinators of our future culture. ANY taxpayer has a right to be at their district’s school board meetings. You don’t have to have kids going to school to have standing. The districts are turning loose their fine indoctrinated products on the community and parents every day and we need to stand up and confront to put an end to this insanity. They will remain unapologetically defiant until compelled by community.

Are they legally able to disregard a parent’s wishes on something like that?

Hopefully, the ACLJ or the Alliance Defense Fund will take this up immediately, before any kids are harmed by this directive.

Will the young kids get in disciplinary trouble for using them to make water balloons from them rather than using them for the school’s suggested use?

This is simply more evidence that there is an all out war against the family and the way that it was intended to be. It is very sad that we have sunk to this level over time. Unfortunately we have become numb to the insanity of it. 50 years ago this type of thing would have never been thought of let alone attempted.

Provincetown is in Massachusetts, not Rhode Island. Get your facts straight.

I was almost shocked when I heard about this until I found out where in MA this was happening. Plus, consider this is the state where high schools-where MINORS attend-are passing out pamphlets that teach boys and girls how to perform homosexual acts.
But the religious kids can’t pray in school.

Why don’t they get the kids a room in a motel and a cigarette while they’re at it?

This schools teachers and some parents are showing how little they really know about children, because children are not responsible and have not the matruity to use condoms even when told too and given counseling. Just look at the Glouster Girls Pregnancy Pact, they purposely choose to get pregnant. The earlier children start having sex, the more convinced they have adult rights, yet they come extremely short of the ability to deal with adult responsibilities. Humans are complicated beings that require nurturing and respect of their developmental and formative stages. Parents are the only ones that should carry this instruction and discipline. Children should never be left to the fate of
one’s that may not have their best interest at heart. A parent has this natural right and responsibility, not teachers, school nurses nor strangers. The best instruction is that loving parents guide their child’s growing years. Children need instruction, discipline, morals, principals and values. They don’t need what the schools are serving up in this age of pornification
