This is getting so old. Day after day we hear of the resources that aren’t being used to clean the oil out of the Gulf of Mexico before it reaches shore. The latest is a Taiwanese vessel called the A-Whale. The owners claim it can skim 500,000 barrels of oil per day. In the first 66 days of the Gulf oil spill disaster the total oil skimmed has been 600,000 barrels in total.
Hot Air: So where is the A-Whale now? In the Gulf? Not yet. It’s on its way there after being tied to a dock in Norfolk, Virginia, and won’t be allowed to join the cleanup effort until the Coast Guard and the EPA figure out whether it meets their standards
Ed Morrissey goes on to point out that the A-Whale hasn’t been tested at full capacity, but so what? We should be deploying every available resource to clean up the oil while BP finds a way to plug the well. This is pure insanity.
Gateway Pundit calls this criminal negligence on the part of the Obama administration. It’s sure beginning to look that way, isn’t it?
Via The Conservative Lady who says it’s time for Obama administration to get the heck out of the way. I’ll say. I think that time has long since passed.
Whose butt will Obama kick over this?
Note: This post has been edited to correct that the A-Whale is not a Japanese vessel, but a Taiwanese vessel, as if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the link.
Imagine if it were President Bush instead of Obama.

This is not a Japanese vessel . . it is Taiwanese . . it has never been used as a skimmer, and has merely had slits cut in its hull with a cockeyed idea that it will somehow work. Legitimate engineers and maritime folks make it clear that this is a wild idea by the ship’s Taiwanese owner who has no scientific background whatsoever. He’s is after some of the BP handouts. Check your facts before posting this partisan pap.

@L Raggio
Ever hear of something called a grease and oil trap ? better look it up
This is using the same concept
It does not take a rocket scientist to make one. Even a young kid could tell you that oil floats (just based off that is how a grease and oil trap was designed).
Better take your own advice and check your facts before posting

A Taiwanese-flagged vessel, named “A Whale,” which is 3 1/2 football fields long and looms 10 stories high – outfitted with 12 vents on either side of its bow, which experts hope will be able to suck up as many as 21 million gallons of oil-tainted water each day in the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster – has offered its services in the attempted clean up.
So will the President Kick Ass and get the permissions needed expediated?
