What’s she going to sue him for? Posting a public video of her speaking? This is ridiculous.
The Washington Times: Shirley Sherrod, the Agriculture Department employee whose hasty dismissal by the Obama administration sparked a national uproar over race, said Thursday that she will sue the conservative blog mogul who posted the edited video that led to her removal.
[...]
In the heavily edited video, Mrs. Sherrod appeared to be proudly telling a Georgia NAACP chapter that she did not help a white farmer. In the full video, she spoke of racial reconciliation and lessons she learned about herself from the experience with the farmer, who quickly backed Mrs. Sherrod in the ensuing public furor.
Mrs. Sherrod said in a CNN interview last week that she would consider taking legal action against Mr. Breitbart.
“I really think I should” consider going forward with a defamation suit, she told interviewers. “I don’t know a lot about the legal profession, but that’s one person I’d like to get back at.”
She also has called Mr. Breitbart a racist who wants to demote blacks to slavery-era status.
Why is it that liberals always go back to those tired old accusations? Andrew Breitbart didn’t put those words in her mouth? He also posted the complete video when it became available. Not to mention, her lawsuit will probably be thrown out of court if she can even find a lawyer to take her case.
The Other McCain: It’s the easiest thing in the world to say, “I’ll sue you for defamation!” Actually filing such a lawsuit is another and far more drastic step. A government official successfully pursuing a defamation suit against a private citizen is quite nearly impossible.
I can’t find the links now (still on vacation) but I read a few things this week about Sherrod that will certainly hurt her if and when she ever files a law suit.

If I were Andrew, I’d make my representation do double duty and file countersuit for libel and slander for what she’s publicly popped off about. I predict Sherrod will quickly go away and be silent.

This woman is kicking a hornet’s nest,… Breitbart already has all he needs to file a counter, and her mouth is still running- he would have a field day, and use the discovery process to expose a whole lot of interesting things about Sherrod and her chain of command…
Bring it on, Shirl!

She so quickly managed to evaporate any good will I had toward her. Breitbart didn’t harm her. Team Obama did. Sue them.
Once upon a time she was a racist. She claims she got over it. Good for her. Now direct the anger at the people who actually fired her without knowing ANY of the facts. Nice diversionary tactics, though.
