Coach Fired Over Anti-Obama Song

A few years ago I noticed a poster on the wall in the hallway of my son’s elementary school. At the top of the poster it said “Why I Hate President Bush.” Apparently, the school approved of that message. My son also told me that in the fall of 2008 his music teacher wore an Obama pin to class. I don’t know if our school would fire an employee over an anti-Obama song, but I wouldn’t doubt it.

An assistant football coach at a Tennessee middle school didn’t advocate for any politicians while he was coaching students. His sin was co-writing, on his own time, a country song called “When You’re Holding a Hammer, Everything Looks Like a Nail.”

Todd Starnes: It was co-written by a parent who has a child on the team. [Bryan] Glover, 26, said he emailed a copy of the song to friends, family members and player’s parents through his personal email account.

And that’s when all the trouble started for the self-described independent conservative.

“The coach called me and said parents were upset – that I was being politically incorrect and the song had racial overtones,” Glover told FOX News Radio. “An hour and a half later I was told I was being terminated.”

“I was informed that I was being let go because of the song,” he said, denying claims there were any racial overtones in the song.

Judge for yourself, does this sound like it has racist overtones? Follow the link above for the lyrics. There is nothing racist, other than opposition to Obama’s policies.

If we all buy a copy of the song he won’t have to go back to a profession that does not appreciate him!

That is one of the best songs I’ve heard from country music in a while! He needs to change to songwriter and/or perform his work! I’m sure the Republican Party could use a guy like that, and I’m sure there are tea partier who would love that song to be performed at their meet-ups!

There is nothing racist or even racial in this song. Not implied, not in tone, nothing. Of course, that never stopped the leftist progressives from throwing out the card. Over-use has caused it to be an epic fail playing card – especially in cases like this!

If the guy wanted to sue to get his job back, I’m sure he’d have a case – assuming he didn’t violate any policies on email.

Great song!!! This should go viral this election! Hope it does!! :D

Great Song. In this case, he just sent it to the wrong people, racist people. The ones who fired him, obviously, are Democrats, I would guess. So, they have the power, and used it, in anger, to show their distain for his views. Shows how intolerant, they are. He should have been reprimanded, but not fired over this. He should have issued a public and private apology to all those that were sent the email, and learned from his mistake, but fired? NO. He is a young teacher and just didn’t use good judgement in sending this out to his students parents. He was excited and proud of his song, but his excitement and pride was not embraced by some of who received it.. Again, fired, NO, but reprimanded strongly.

He should have never been fired OR REPRIMANDED. People are sick of “political correctness”! The song is great and tells the truth…”truth”? What’s that?

And what happened to the artists who recorded anti-Bush songs? High praises from the Left and shoulder shrugs from the Right. Why? Because who really cares that someone wrote a song criticising their guy? Just those who have a complex already. http://www.prefixmag.com/features/lists/10-anti-bush-songs-election-week/22728/

No doubt about it, the guy who did the firing should had been fired himself.
