President Obama delivered his Iraq address this evening, and I kept thinking “If only he sounded like he cares.” His tone was flat, it sounded like it was just something he was trying to get through. The other day he dismissed Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally. While sometimes I wonder about Glenn Beck, I don’t question his love of country or his love of our troops. I wish our president left me with the same impression. I wish he was someone about whom I could say “I don’t agree with his policies, but I am confident that he loves this country and those that defend it.” Unfortunately, I just don’t get that feeling from this guy.
Read the transcript, and watch for yourself. Sure, we can pick apart his words, but if he spoke with conviction they would mean a lot more.
Every time I meet someone who has served so I can remain safe here at home I get choked up. I get a lump in my throat and never know what to say. I usually take their hand and simply say “thank you” while choking back my tears of gratitude. That’s how much I appreciate what these people have done, and continue to do, for us. I just don’t get the impression our president feels the same way. I really hope I’m wrong, or if I’m right that maybe he’ll grow into his position and learn to truly appreciate the sacrifice of those in the military.

You really nailed it. Obama talks like those serving this nation are there to make him look good. If he really had conviction it would show.

I accidentally heard about 3 minutes on the radio on the drive home from work–about all I could take. There was not only no sincerity whatsoever in his remarks about the sacrifice, stamina, and heavy lifting the military has done–does do–for us—–what I heard was all about how we (paraphrasing here) “all needed to pull together and honor them” by getting behind Obama’s policies!! I had to turn it off! Profanity spewed! Although I did not expect him to—why couldn’t remarks about leaving Iraq and gratitude to our service men and women be all about that?? As usual, he made it all about him and his wretched plans and the few “stirring words” I heard (obviously written by a half smart staffer who thought they should be said, and so flat and predictable they were probably plagerised) were utterly insincere.
What an empty man.

I’m reading this everywhere. He had no emotion, felt nothing. I watched a slideshow of the audience at Restoring Honor at Amusing Bunni’s and couldn’t stop the tears. Each slide showed the true American spirit. It was very touching. We had so many emotional moments with Bush and we knew they were real. We don’t have a single real moment with this president.

It is crystal clear. Barack Obama is not and has no interest in being a war time Commander in Chief. My oldest son has two months left on his tour of duty in Iraq. I pray he doesn’t get sent to Afghanistan. Especially considering the hands tied style of rules of engagement. God help our Soldiers.
P.S. My son is a Combat Engineer attached to the Third Infantry Division. He is American made and damn proud of it!

Is not nationalism–that devotion to a flag, an anthem, a boundary so fierce it engenders mass murder–one of the great evils of our time, along with racism, along with religious hatred? …….Howard Zinn….a progressive guru.
We do not believe that the United States is divinely inspired, and that the United States is the shining light upon a hill to every other country. That is part of what I call the American superiority complex — the idea that somehow we are better than any other country in the world. And this is a delusion. …..Mathew Rothschild the editor of the Progressive Magazine.
Progressive despise nationalism and a nation that takes pride in itself and its achievments.
We are not exceptional and it shows…….everytime Obama speaks.
We are evil…….We deserve to be punished….that is the mind of a progressive and Obama is a progressive…..and we have a progressive in HILLARY CLINTON as the Sec. of State.
Lucky us.

I sat through the whole damn thing with it on the radio in the background.
Some of those lines reminds me of his late 2009 West point speech where he basically said ‘Gee you Army Guys are swell, but your silly little wars are so expensive’….
I’d day November can’t come soon enough, but he’s dismissed and marginalized us as it is…..why would he magically ‘find
himselfJesus’ after being on the wrong end of an electoral ass-kicking?Like or Dislike:
