What it is ain’t exactly clear….
That’s the impression I get when I talk to people of the 20 something generation. They know something’s not right. They know they are getting screwed, they just aren’t sure how or why.
Blame the media for that. Blame our education system for that. Heck, we can even blame ourselves for that.
But it’s all changing now.
Call it the “new media.”
We aren’t going anywhere!
Update: Underemployment is 28.4% for the age group 18 to 29. It doesn’t look like that’s going to change any time soon. Keep in mind that unemployment and underemployment for that age group increased shortly after the Democrats increased the minimum wage.
Update 2: Be sure to read Maggie’s recent post taking down Bob Herbert, who just can’t for the life of him figure out why things are so screwed up in the US.

I hired a 17 year old high school senior to help me with a few chores on the property. I had Limbaugh playing on the radio while we were working together the first few days. The next week, I set him up in another building to do a job by himself and there was a radio there for him to use. I walked over in the afternoon and Limbaugh was on. I had thought I left it on the same station and he was just reluctant to change it and I told him he didn’t have to listen to that and could listen to whatever he wanted, but he said that he got hooked listening the week before and wanted to listen to him. Sheesh! I’d have never thought that in a million years! Rather refreshing. There is some hope.

@michigan: that’s a great story.
I was listening to Hannity late yesterday afternoon. A 22-year-old man won the Jeep Cherokee for the video he made. I think the theme was “Honor.” He was so well-spoken, so grateful. I was really impressed. He wants to make family movies and he is moving to Hollywood. I hope he can keep it together when he gets there.
If he is any example of our twenty-somethings, we can be heartened.

I’ve been hearing more and more stories like that. I try to stay out of it, let people figure it out on their own. Watch, listen….
