Socialist Democrat Congressman Maurice Hinchey is losing it. He was asked about a shady business deal by a reporter before a debate with his opponent, George Phillips, and assaulted the reporter. The reporter had the nerve to ask him about a shady business deal in which he stands to make money from federal funds he secured for a project.
It was after the cameras were turned off when Hinchey attacked the reporter.
After the shooters turned off their cameras and started to break down, Hinchey made a beeline for Kemble and got in his face, according to a YNN videographer who was on the scene. The congressman poked Kemble in the chest aggressively, according to the YNN staffer.
I spoke with Kemble briefly this afternoon, and he told me Hinchey “put his hand on my throat” and then “realized what he had done and walked away.” The YNN shooter told me he did not witness this part of the altercation.
I guess Maurice Hinchey isn’t used to having a serious challenger. He didn’t do so well in the debate, either. It took him a while to figure out what the moderator could possibly mean by “deficit reduction.”
What a bonehead. It was downhill from there. I think it’s time for Maurice Hinchey to retire. He’s obviously not up to the job.
