Did you get a bonus last year? If so, how was it compared to years prior? Probably not as generous, I’d guess. If that’s the case, you probably aren’t a union member working for a company that’s making a habit of begging the taxpayers for bailouts.
Red State has the news of how Chrysler lost a ton of dough last year, and now has it’s hand out for even more taxpayer funds to help make ends meet. Of course, the company had no problem paying bonuses to UAW employees.
To be clear, Chrysler’s CEO Sergio Marchionne is not calling the $750 bonuses to UAW workers profit-sharing (how could he?). Instead, he’s calling them performance award payments because…well, you know, that just sounds better.
Gah! It’s enough to make you want to pull your hair out. Unless, of course, you’re one of the lucky ones who received a “performance award payment.” In that case – you’re welcome!
(Am I the only taxpayer out here feeling a bit of a backache from all of this bending over we’re doing for the unions?)
Update: Reaganite Republican linked – thanks!

Bonus? I took a pay cut and gigs with the band are way down as club owners are scaling waaaaaay back.
Face it: This is payback for helping Big Ears get into the Whitehouse.

As long as the UAW holds a stake of Chrysler and GM we can expect more of the same.
