There he goes again. President Obama told the states’ governors not to vilify public workers, and that everyone has to share in the sacrifice.
In the meeting with governors at the White House today, Obama said “most public servants agree” that everyone needs to give something up. He called on states to invoke a practice of “shared sacrifice” where “everyone should be at the table.”
“If all the pain is borne by only one group, whether it’s workers or seniors or the poor, while the wealthiest among us get to keep or get more tax breaks, we’re not doing the right thing,” he said. “I don’t think it does anybody any good when public employees are denigrated or vilified or their rights are infringed upon.”
I’d say the taxpayers have given up enough already! Those of us in the private sector have given up raises, some have lost their jobs. Most of us don’t have pensions. What does he want us to give up? And enough with the class warfare!
This is the same guy who flies his personal trainer to Washington, DC from Chicago every week. That doesn’t sound like “shared sacrifice” to me. Nor is it very environmentally friendly. For Obama and his union cronies it’s “Shared sacrifice for thee, but not for me!”
Update: Governor Walker responded to Obama in a press release:
“I’m sure the President knows that most federal employees do not have collective bargaining for wages and benefits while our plan allows it for base pay. And I’m sure the President knows that the average federal worker pays twice as much for health insurance as what we are asking for in Wisconsin. At least I would hope he knows these facts.
“Furthermore, I’m sure the President knows that we have repeatedly praised the more than 300,000 government workers who come to work every day in Wisconsin.
“I’m sure that President Obama simply misunderstands the issues in Wisconsin, and isn’t acting like the union bosses in saying one thing and doing another.”
Ouch.

Kinda like Al Gore. Flies around in private jets. Has several big mansions. Creates the “carbon footprint” of Godzilla, and reminds us that we all need to return to 19th century lifestyles.

“If all the pain’s borne by only one group, whether its workers or seniors or the poor, while the wealthiest among us get to keep or get more tax breaks, we’re not doing the right thing. I think that’s something the democrats and the republicans should be able to agree on.”
My take on it…
The wealthiest not only pay more in taxes, but they pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes. Wasn’t it our president who attempted repeatedly (including this comment) to single out the individuals who are successful? As a person who is in the middle class, and don’t see myself getting rich anytime soon, I suppose I should hate those individuals that did better than myself, but for some reason I don’t. Instead I admire them, many of whom started from nothing. Many try and try and try with constant failure before they succeed… once they do make it, we don’t want them to be able to reap the rewards of their efforts. So please Mr. President, stop trying to push all of the pain for our irresponsible government, that can not manage its checkbook, on only one group… the hard workers of these the United States of America. Instead, place the tax burden on we the people, me included, and then let us decide which services we want to pay for and how much we are willing to pay for them. Why is it so acceptable to single out the successful, our current tax code should be considered a hate crime as we are stealing money from the deserving and giving it to the undeserving.

Well said. Hopefully people will realize that class warfare is just another tactic they use to “divide and conquer”. Despite what many Democrats think (or merely want to believe); taxing the wealthy will not create jobs. Leaving the wealthy to invest their money as they see fit will create jobs that are actually needed (as opposed to government created jobs). Leaving the wealthy to save their money in a bank allows the bank to use leverage and lend those funds out to others who need auto loans, student loans, and mortgages. This is beyond simple and the left continually ignores it. Leaves me to believe that those at the top know better but refuse to say so as they believe class warfare is path the re-election. Disgusting.
