The left is gleeful over a rumor that Roger Ailes is going to be indicted. That’s all it is, a rumor by an unnamed source.
Here’s what I learned recently: Someone I spoke with claimed that Ailes was scheduled to speak at their event in March, but canceled. It appears that Roger’s people, ostensibly using a clause in his contract, said he “cannot appear for legal reasons.”
I asked “What, precisely, does that mean?”
The response: “Roger Ailes will be indicted — probably this week, maybe even Monday.”
Ailes’ alleged crime? Telling Judith Regan in 2004 to lie to federal investigators about an affair she had with Bernard Kerik. One Fox News hater is giddy over the supposed scandal, calling this Roger Ailes’ blue dress. A writer at Business Insider says if Ailes is indicted it will be the trial of the century.
As far as I can tell, no charges have been filed against Ailes, and there is no federal investigation. The New York Times article that broke the story doesn’t indicate that, and neither do any of the articles linked above. So if he’s never been charged, and isn’t under investigation, isn’t it a bit late now? The “crime” would have occurred in 2005, so would the statute of limitations apply?
I believe this is much ado about nothing. Da TechGuy agrees, and thinks the left will be sadly disappointed when nothing comes of it.
