I was waiting for someone to say children would die if the Republicans manage to cut the budget. Well, now we wait no more. The head of USAID testified that 70,000 children will die thanks to the GOP. Seriously.
“We estimate, and I believe these are very conservative estimates, that H.R. 1 would lead to 70,000 kids dying,” USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah testified before the House Appropriations State and Foreign Ops subcommittee.
“Of that 70,000, 30,000 would come from malaria control programs that would have to be scaled back specifically. The other 40,000 is broken out as 24,000 would die because of a lack of support for immunizations and other investments and 16,000 would be because of a lack of skilled attendants at birth,” he said.
The Republican bill, known as H.R.1, was passed by the House, and would fund the government for the rest of fiscal 2011. It would effectively cut 16 percent from the Obama administration’s original fiscal 2011 request for the international affairs account.
I wish someone would have asked him how many children have died of malaria since the progressive environmentalists got it banned.
He also said the budget would set back US humanitarian efforts by decades. What a crock. Their budget is still higher than 2008 levels. And what’s that old saying – charity begins at home?

It is ok if big oil and coal companies kill more than 260,000 people a year spewing billions of tons of toxic sludge into the air and water. Republicans are criminals who simply have not been caught yet. There is no end to the lies. They are destroying our country and people are too stupid to realize that they are playing right into their hands. It makes no difference whose party is in control. You can be assured that both parties are going to rip us off. These liars thieves and thugs should be arrested and put in jail. When is it acceptable to kill babies? That is right it is not but people look the other way when big oil and coal companies pump billions of tons of pollution into the air and water and then watch as children suffocate during asthma attacks. This is sick behavior and for the amount of money they are charging us for gas. I would nationalize the big oil companies and fire all of these worthless scum bags.
