Note to Republicans with a microphone, or a keyboard or a pen: You have a big target for the 2012 election, he lives in the White House and his initials are BO. Why waste you time beating up on Sarah Palin?
The latest is Senator Judd Gregg from New Hampshire. He lamented in a piece in The Hill that the primary process could help Sarah Palin.
Because the nominating process has become so dominated by primary elections, with the vast majority of the delegates chosen by direct vote, it is entirely possible that with no presumptive winner or even favorites, a candidate who runs second or third in a great many primaries could go into the convention with a sizable block of delegates.
Who would this favor? Does Sarah Palin come to mind? Although she is not viewed by most as strong enough to win, she is viewed by many as a person worth voting for to make a statement. And primaries tend to be populated by people who go to the polls with the purpose of making a statement.
Finishing second and third isn’t really a big deal — until you get enough delegates to be the nominee. And picking a nominee who it seems would be easily defeated by President Obama might not be the best statement.
What’s the point of this swipe, as Clyde Middleton called it? She hasn’t even declared whether she’s running or not. Neither has Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney of Mike Huckabee. Isn’t this a bit premature?
What if Palin doesn’t run, and instead goes out there and puts her awesome fundraising skills to good use in the general election? Or maybe she’ll sit it out because so many of the GOP insiders have trashed her. Whoever is the Republican nominee is going to need all the fundraising help he or she can get, considering Obama’s campaign is expected to spend close to a billion dollars. People really should think about that before they go ticking her off.
Oh well, at least Gregg didn’t call her “Al Sharpton, Alaska Edition.”

Yeah Sam thats brilliant. Since about 1/2 of the GOP is establishment Repubs….I guess pissing them off is the tea parties idea of winning the White House.
Palin has cast her lot with the Tea Party. But the tea party is only 1/2 of the GOP…..Its time that the good guys and the bad guys in the GOp need to work together….
Or not…whatever….Obama will win 2012 in a landslide just like Reagan did in 1984 because the Dems were bickering, infighting and they threw up a far left idealogue….you know sorta like Palin will be a far right Idealogue.
Just saying…..
