Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous!
Boy, the Obama family sure does enjoy a lot of vacations. With all the turmoil at home and abroad – a government about to shut down, three wars two wars and a kinetic military action, a nation on the brink of insolvency, gas prices going up, wages going down, etc. – you’d think the President would find it important to stick around Washington, DC. Even if he does nothing, maybe he could at least try to pretend he’s some sort of leader. But no. Between his campaign stops, basketball, golf and vacations there’s little time left over for anything else. This weekend the Obama’s are going to Williamsburg. At least it’s a little closer to DC. But it won’t spare any headaches, since the FAA is establishing a no-fly zone while the first family whoops it up.
President Obama and the First Family are planning to visit the area this weekend in what the White House described Wednesday as a “long-planned family trip to Colonial Williamsburg.”
But the trip might get grounded if a government shutdown can’t be averted by Republicans and Democrats in Congress.
On Thursday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration established a no-fly zone over Williamsburg that will be in place from Friday through Monday. Jessica Wharton, spokeswoman for the Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport, said the no-fly zone will not affect the arrival and departure times at the airport for this weekend.
Consider the Obama’s lavish lifestyle a public service. While so many Americans suffer through this rotten economy and endure the inflation caused by his policies, we can still live vicariously through the Obama family. Lucky us.

And to those of you giving Obama a pass, have you seen his schedule?

I haven’t gone on a vacation in over 7 years. I hope it storms on their asses the whole weekend. LC, how many vacations have they taken total since taking office.
Hot debate. What do you think?

They take more in a month than we take in a year. Who can keep track?

From the local article: “But the trip might get grounded if a government shutdown can’t be averted by Republicans and Democrats in Congress.”
“The White House cautioned that the Obamas’ plans would be altered if negotiations on the federal budget stall. According to news reports, the White House was planning to hold talks again Wednesday evening.”

On January First of this year, Obama had taken a total of 58 vacation days out of 712 days of presidency. Add 35 if you wish to count Camp David.
From a CBS Article: “…shows President George W. Bush made 9 visits to his Texas ranch, spending all or part of 69 days there during his first year in office. Mr. Bush also made 25 visits to Camp David in 2001 totaling 78 days. And he spent a four-day weekend at his folks’ place in Kennebunkport, Maine that year.”
69/365 days in year one for Mr. Bush, 58/712 days on vacation for President Obama as of January 1st, 2011.
In Addition:
“During Ronald Reagan’s fist year in office, he made seven trips west to his California ranch, spending all or part of 42 days there. He also spent 57 days at Camp David in 1989, having made 19 visits to the presidential retreat in Maryland’s Catoctin Mountains, most of them weekend respites. The Reagans also spent three or four days every year in Palm Springs, Calif., as New Year’s guests at the estate of friend and philanthropist Walter Annenberg.”

Yeah. Nothing happened in the first year in office. Might have been some talk about some bad men from the Middle East and something about a plane turning up in New York, but nothing important enough to cut a vacation short.

When a President is receiveing heads of state, whether he is at his ranch or at Camp David, that counts for work in my book. Golfing or skiing with the kids is another matter.
