Dear Matt Damon: Feel Free to Pay More to the Federal Government

Here’s video of the mentally challenged actor Matt Damon blathering about how it’s criminal that rich people like himself aren’t paying higher taxes. He said nobody who got a tax break from Bush created a small business. He doesn’t know my husband. It took a few years after the tax cuts went into effect, but after a lot of hard work Mr. LC started a small business. Had we been paying higher tax rates it may not have happened.  But we aren’t rich. Matt Damon is, so why doesn’t he just pony up and pay more. All he has to do is write a check. It would take him a lot less time than it took to make this inane video. Then again, maybe he’s well aware that even if the federal government gobbled up everything the rich have, we still wouldn’t get out of this fiscal hole. If that’s the case he’s just a hypocrite of the worst sort who probably wants to run for office some day.

Warning: Listening to Matt Damon could cost you a few brain cells.

Update: Don Surber weighed in and got his own memeorandum thread.

Update 2: From the Desk of Lady Liberty linked – thanks!

Update 3: Soquel by the Creek fact-checked Damon’s statements regarding taxation. Needless to say, Damon comes up a bit short in the truth department.

Nobody’s stopping you from paying more than the required minimum in taxes, Matt. http://youtu.be/ZWTzyU5MFgM

    This is just too easy.
-Ask him if he hires an accountant. Why should he when he can just pay 50% of what he earns and add a note telling the IRS to keep the balance.

-He might have not started a business with his money, but unless he’s keeping it in a mattress, “socking it away” is also known as investing in business.

-And why does he think we should pay more in taxes: To keep “Head Start” running. Ask him if he knows that the department of Health and Human Services declared head start an utter failure.

I don’t know why this gets to me… I could go on and on.

The more I see of people like MD shooting of their mouths the more angry I become…….small business is what this country was built on.

People like MD and Mr. Obama just don’t get it….raising taxes on those who still have jobs, instead of focusing on creating jobs for those who have lost theirs thru his term in office so they can pay their fair share of taxes is what we need.

    Heaven help us all.

The top 1% of taxpayers get 20% of Adjusted Gross income and pay 38% of taxes. If paying nealy 2x your share of income in taxes, what is fair? What is it with Hollywood? They read lines written by other and then they think we give a sh*t what they think.

He hasn’t started a small business? What a clueless idiot! Think about all the jobs movies create….from the staff making the movie, to the food they they buy and wardrobe…to the editing and and filming…thousands, probably, and then the theaters themselves, the staff there…the food services..the products theaters buy…. we could go on and on, but inadvertently he has employed people. If he doesn’t like his profits he can send it directly to the Whitehouse himself.
I am waiting with baited breath to hear he turned down any salary over $250,000 for future work. I am SURE he means what he is saying.

Mr. Damon’s diatribe is so chock-full of factual errors on taxes and those that create businesses that I posted this blog with reference links.

Mr. Damon’s logic is the same as the presidents “tax employers”.
Both seem to love jobs, just hate business; like loving eggs but hating chickens.
