See updates below!
Polls are closed in the special election to replace disgraced Anthony Weiner in NY9. The Associated Press election results page is updated as results come in. Polls show the Republican, Bob Turner, with about a 6 point lead over Democrat David Weprin in this blue district.
Ace called it for Turner hours ago.
The AP is also covering the Nevada special election, polls should close in just a few minutes. The Republican in that race, Mark Amodei is also expected to win.
As of this writing, 9:54 PM ET, AP is showing one precinct reporting in NY9, with Turner leading 57% to 40%. The socialist has 2% of the vote. Let’s hope that holds up! People can debate what it means all they want, but the fact that the White House was already spinning the expected Democrat defeat means they’re nervous.
I’ll try to stay up late enough for the full results, but I have to get up in the morning. Follow the links if I don’t make it.
Update: While waiting for the rest of the precincts to report, check out Nassau Tea Party’s behind the scenes photos of Bob Turner’s campaign organization.
Update 10:04 PM: 4 precincts reporting, 55% Turner, 44% Weprin, 1% socialist guy.
Update 10:07 PM: 6 precincts reporting, 56% Turner, 43% Weprin, 1% socialist guy.
Update 10:12 PM: 9 precincts reporting, 56% Turner, 43% Weprin, 1% socialist guy. No results in Nevada yet.
Update 10:14 PM: That’s weird. AP just changed it back to 7 precincts reporting. Not much change, Turner down to 55%. Something else that’s weird, or not, really. Governor Cuomo is being billed as a big moderate pragmatist. But he endorsed Weprin, who was clueless about the amount of the national debt. He thought it was only $4 trillion.
Update 10:17: Now it’s back up to what I wrote at 10:12. So far all the precincts are from Queens.
Update 10:19: While you wait, be sure to read about Senator Orrin Hatch’s letter to NLRB member Craig Becker, asking him if he helped write the SEIU’s intimidation manual.
Update 10:23: 13 precincts reporting, 51% Turner, 48% Weprin, 1% socialist guy.
Update 10:25: Correction noted and corrected. It’s all Queens precincts reporting.
Update 10:28: 15 precincts reporting: 49% Turner, 50% Weprin, 1% socialist guy.
Update 10:29: 18 precincts reporting: 53% Turner, 47% Weprin, 1% socialist guy.
Update 10:32: 27 precincts reporting: 49% Turner, 50% Weprin, 0% socialist guy. There is now one precinct from Brooklyn, and Turner has 60% there.
Update 10:35: 40 precincts reporting: 51% Turner, 49% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 10:37: 45 precincts reporting: 52% Turner, 47% Weprin, 0% socialist guy. Only a few precincts reporting from Brooklyn, but Turner is doing well there so far.
Update 10:42: 61 precincts reporting: 56% Turner, 44% Weprin, 0% socialist guy. Turner is doing even better now in Brooklyn, but there is still a long way to go.
Update 10:46: 76 precincts reporting: 55% Turner, 45% Weprin, 0% socialist guy. Only one Nevada precinct is in, and Amodei is ahead 59% to 37%.
Update 10:51: 100 precincts reporting: 54% Turner, 46% Weprin, 0% socialist guy. Fox News just reported live that only 15% of precincts are reporting. It may be a percentage point or two above that now.
Update 10:53: 121 precincts reporting: 51% Turner, 49% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 10:56: 132 precincts reporting: 52% Turner, 48% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 10:59: 144 precincts reporting: 51% Turner, 48% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 11:01: 149 precincts reporting: 52% Turner, 48% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 11:05: There are a total of 512 precincts, 170 in Brooklyn and 342 in Queens.
Update 11:08: 151 precincts reporting: 52% Turner, 47% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 11:10: 163 precincts reporting: 52% Turner, 47% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 11:13: 171 precincts reporting: 52% Turner, 48% Weprin, 0% socialist guy. Be sure to check the comments below for more insight.
Update 11:13: 181 precincts reporting: 51% Turner, 48% Weprin, 0% socialist guy. I really wish they would hurry. Some of us have to work in the morning! Amodei has a very comfortable lead in Nevada – with 58 out of 858 precincts he’s got 64% of the vote.
Update 11:19: 191 precincts reporting: 51% Turner, 48% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 11:20: On Drudge: FLASH: AP not ready to call race yet. Too many ‘problems’ with reporting of results… Developing…
Update 11:21: 199 precincts reporting: 52% Turner, 48% Weprin, 0% socialist guy. I’ll be right back, I need another Diet Coke.
Update 11:26: I’m back! 217 precincts reporting: 51% Turner, 49% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 11:32: While we wait for more precincts, I received this in my email:
http://twitter.com/#!/ppppolls/status/113806948738138112@ppppolls PublicPolicyPolling
If GOP ends up winning these specials by more than our polls said it means Obama’s approval among those who turned out might be in the 20s!
21 minutes ago via web http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2011/house/ny/new_york_9th_district_special_election_turner_vs_weprin-2863.html
I haven’t had a chance to check into it.
Update 11:34: 236 precincts reporting: 51% Turner, 48% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 11:36: 242 precincts reporting: 52% Turner, 48% Weprin, 0% socialist guy. They still haven’t called it. Only 44 of Brooklyn’s precincts have reported so far.
Update 11:43: 271 precincts reporting: 53% Turner, 46% Weprin, 0% socialist guy. Let’s hope this trend continues. Here’s the AP link I’ve been following. It’s also at the top of the post.
Update 11:46: 280 precincts reporting: 53% Turner, 47% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 11:47: Here’s the link about the absentee ballots being impounded.
Update 11:48: 291 precincts reporting: 53% Turner, 47% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 11:51: 299 precincts reporting: 53% Turner, 46% Weprin, 0% socialist guy. They still haven’t called it. I just checked ABC News and they have something about Michael Jackson, nothing about this race or Nevada.
Update 11:53: 314 precincts reporting: 53% Turner, 47% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 11:55: 329 precincts reporting: 53% Turner, 47% Weprin, 0% socialist guy.
Update 11:57: If Dems were winning in NY9 and NV2 do you think the races would have been called by now? I think so. And thanks for all the comments.
Update 11:58: No sooner had I posted the last update that the AP put the little red check next to Bob Turner’s name. Yay! 338 out of 512 precincts have been counted and Turner is up 53% to 47%. Vote count: Turner 24,501, Weprin 21,661.
Update 12:11 AM September 14: In case anyone is still interested, the current count is 385 precincts reporting, and Turner maintains his lead of 53% to 47%. Brooklyn pulled through for us big time! In Nevada, they’ve finally called the race for Amodei 57% to Marshall’s 37% (and a few minor candidates.) Let this be a sign of things to come.
Thanks again for all of the kind comments, I appreciate it.
Final update 12:21: I can barely keep my eyes open… will be back to my regularly scheduled blogging tomorrow.

Obama, one and done. Worst President in our history and the biggest fraud in modern times. Let’s now see if the conservatives can do better. If not it’s time to throw them all out of office.

Reading with great delight from Reno, NV. We had our own congressional race today. Amodei, the Republican, seems to be winning by a wide margin. Still have a lot of precincts to report. Fortunately this district is mortly northern Nevada. Much more conservative than Vegas area

What a MAJOR defeat for Obama & the Dems!! What a great win for Mr. Turner. More and more people are figuring out this fraud who has usurped the country from its people. Absolutely the worst and most morally bankrupt President in my lifetime (63 years). It is the Republican’s presidential election to lose. Let’s hope we nominate the right guy and he picks Rubio to cinch it up. Will be a lot of happy Texans down here tomorrow when the word is out!!!

Romney is better suited to defeat the ‘community-organizer’- he will get a much larger percent of the independent voters (vs Perry)- plus Marco Rubio who will get a nice share of the Latino vote + Florida

Thanks from Spring Hill, FL! You’re one of the few who provided
a running account.. certainly not much from the lame stream
media.
Now will follow the endless analysis to spin this as an electoral
response from those who couldn’t possibly be in the know –
progressives accusing the politically “unwashed” as uninformed
bigots.
Thanks again…. appreciated the running data and commentary.

Fantastic news out of NY-9 tonight. Welcome to the Scott Brown meoment of 2011. Looks like the GOP has won NV-2 tonight as well. A very nice sweep.
One really has to wonder who is really going to want Obama in their district to campaign in 2012? Obama not only has to worry in battleground states like PA, OH, VA and FL all of which has Democrat US Senate seats up for reelection, the Obamamessiah has litterly made once unthought of places like MI, MN and WI in play.
I guess he can always hang out with Hoffa and the Teamsters.

Well done NY-9 and NV-2. But this is just a start. In our elation, let’s not forget to keep pounding them. Keep pounding until obama, pelosi, and every last American socialist are nothing but bloody stains on the floor. Pound them until their insides spill out. Pound them until they scream for merciful surrender, then pound them more. Pound them until vultures have consumed every last morsel of their entrails, then pound the vultures.

And who has been sitting on ever bill the Congress has sent to the Senate like Trade Agreement Bills that would provide real jobs to Americans, The Big Deal Obama wanted that Harry Reid would not let come to the floor—Cut, Cap, and Balance that would have saved our AAA rating that Obama said he wouldn’t pass. And all the EPA
bills requesting Obama to stop us from drilling oil in the Gulf and Alaska, keep clean coal plants operating that have cuts thousands of Americans their jobs. Shame on you and the Democrats for doing Absolutely nothing all year long.

Thanks to your web site my husband and I found out what the results were in NY and NV! Congratulations NY and NV! We live in Sioux Falls South Dakota and Are Conservative Republicans who really appreciate the Tea Party who stand for Great American Values and Less Government
with a Pro Business Environment. Unions and Obama don’t speak for non-union workers. We know that neither unions or Obama create jobs!Businesses do when they have an environment to expand and grow.
Down with Obamacare! Down with Unions who want to take our Right To Work away! Down with the EPA! Down with Dodd Frank Regulations! Yes to Tort Reform! Yes to throwing Obama and his cronies out of office 2012!

This is not only a referendum on Obama but think about it for a minute.
This is a heavily democratic area. These are Liberals voting for a Republican.
What does that mean?
Its simple…..even Liberals are growing weary of the pie in the sky, communist philosophy of the PROGRESSIVES and are beginning to turn out and “just say no” to Not only Obama’s progressive agenda but to the progressive movement that has tried to injest the Democratic party.
With the election of Obama(and total abject failure of his policies) hopefully we can do the same thing we did to Jimmy Carter(whose progressive policies were also abject failures) in 1980-1981 and send the Progressives back into hiding …………again.

As a retired USAR vet living in Germany, I’ve lived the “socialist dream” for almost 20 years. All Americans should thank what ever God you believe in every morning that you live in the USA in a free and democratic Republic! If it wasn’t for the “anointed one” killing jobs faster than butter melts in hell, I’d be back home already. Even here in Germany, obama’s charms are wearing thin with the Europeans. The only reason they could ever afford to be socialist is because there was a free market America to back stop their dumb policies when things got out of hand. Now with mr. o wanting to turn the US into a subdivision of the EU, the europeans are nervous he’ll ruin the good life they enjoy by bringing down the US economy. Europe needs us as a free America more than we need Europe…period. Thanks for reading my rant.

Listened to an interesting interview on FNC the other day- Cavuto show- I forget the individual’s name but he indicated that the poor economy could actually help Barack, even if it gets worse. There are so many unemployed -16 mill- so many on food stamps, 40% of mortgages underwater, etc that Obama is seen as the one who will provide endlessly so all of these “needy” ones will vote for him in droves. Any thoughts?
