Steve Benen wonders why Jon Huntsman, who comes in dead last for support in the polls for the GOP presidential primary, is getting so much attention from the media. It’s a good question. I’ve noticed he’s been on TV a lot, but I didn’t realize it was this much.
On Friday, Huntsman was on CNBC’s “The Kudlow Report.” On Thursday, he was on Fox News’ “On The Record with Greta Van Susteren.” On Wednesday, he was CNN’s “John King, USA.” Last week, Huntsman was on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight,” and was scheduled to be on NBC’s “Meet the Press” (though the latter was canceled due to hurricane coverage).
I realize the presidential campaign is effectively in full swing right now, so it’s hardly a surprise that candidates will be making plenty of media appearance on broadcast television.
But in all sincerity, when was the last time we saw a candidate with this little support generating quite this much media love?
It’s hard to overstate how poorly Huntsman is doing. Among Republican voters nationwide, the latest Fox News poll shows him running last with 1% support. The latest Quinnipiac poll shows him running last with 1% support. The latest CNN poll shows him running last with 1% support. The latest Gallup poll shows him running last with 1% support.
There seems to be a pattern here. (Read More)
I notice they aren’t giving this much air time to conservative, and more popular, candidates like Rick Santorum and Herman Cain. Maybe they hope Huntsman will give the Democrats more sound bites to use against the eventual GOP nominee.

He’s the type of candidate the media falls in love with. Insanely wealthy, supposedly “serious” and telegenic. They don’t care what the regular people think.

Huntsman is an establishment, country club democRat-light… basically just another big government hack. Huntsman, Romney, Newt, Ron Paul, and (I believe) Santorum all take attention away from one of our best chances of defeating this Marxist administration: Herman Cain. As far as I am concerned; there are only three candidates…. Herman Cain, Bachmann, and Perry.

I like Herman Cain, too. The media ignores him. They ignore Santorum, too. They pay plenty of attention to Bachmann, taking things she says out of context and painting her as crazy.

Yes they are trying to do the same thing to Bachmann that they did to Palin. The MSM in this country really is detestable.

The SOBs loved McCain, too until he won the nomination and “ran against” (pardon me while I vomit), the REAL love of their life, then dropped him like a rotten apple.

There’s something going on here. Watch Fox News and see how they are dissing Romney and Bachmann and promoting Perry. Nevermind Ron Paul, Santorum, Gingrich, and Cain who get almost zero coverage. Even the “right wing” media has a clear agenda.

but Fox isn’t “Right Wing”…… Sean Hannity and maybe Megyn Kelly are conservatives… but the liberals are all over that network; Shep Smith, Greta, Juan Williams, Bob Beckel are all liberals.
Rupert Murdoch gave money to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
Glenn Beck was thrown off of the network.
Chris Wallace has shown his true colors as an MSM hack by going after Bachmann and Newt.
Charles Krauthhammer is a lifelong liberal who has only changed his mind on foreign policy.
Bill Kristol is a lifelong liberal who has only changed his mind on foreign policy.
Bill O’reilly has attacked the tea party, and I have seen him defend Obama plenty of times (I can’t think of one thing to defend Obama about BTW… it took the guy 16 hours to give the Navy SEALS the green light to kill Bin Laden… Obama is a 100% disaster.)
If anything Fox is left wing biased too, just not as much as the Pinko Commies on NBC / CNN / ABC / NBC/ CBS.

Huntsman worries me. Reminds me of the fake tea party candidates we saw in 2010.

The reason Huntsman is front and center in the TV media is because he is the hand-picked candidate of the power-brokers of the world. The week before he announced his candidacy, he was on the stage with his buddy Henry Kissinger, and they were smugly talking about when he would announce. Kissinger participates in and, in general, runs the internationalist organizations. The power-brokers are most interested in carbon emissions regs which will bankrupt the oil, coal, natural gas, and nuclear businesses unless they pass the costs on to consumers. This will bring down the US economy because consumers will go broke paying for these resources. Then, the power-brokers can achieve what they have always wanted, a global order. Huntsman is very much a “cap and trade” enthusiast.
