Things are getting interesting now that my older son is in fifth grade. Just before Thanksgiving he informed me that he learned President Obama has an “all star cabinet” and that there’s no difference between a democracy and a republic.
Here in upstate New York we’ve been treated to an unusually mild fall. For most of us that’s something to celebrate, but I guess his teacher isn’t like most of us. Today he came home and told me that she taught the class that the reason we haven’t had snow this year is (you guessed it!) because of global warming. He said he wanted to say something, but was afraid he’d get in trouble, so he kept his mouth shut. That was probably a wise choice, seeing that kids are now getting suspended for calling teachers cute.
I chuckled and told him that when we get plenty of snow the climate change alarmists tell us that’s also due to global warming. He looked confused for a moment, then just shook his head and laughed. We sat down and checked out the headlines together at Climate Depot. He said some of people involved in the “Climate Gate” scandal should probably go to jail for fraud. I guess in a perfect world that would happen, but this is no perfect world we’re living in. It’s a shame he’s not learning that in school.
Update: I suppose it could be worse, at least nobody in his class was arrested for belching.
