Marco Rubio: Why Would We Want to Become Like the Countries Everyone Else Tries to Escape?

Senator Marco Rubio responded to President Obama’s latest weekly address.  Obama – who’s entire term in office has been a perpetual campaign – is suddenly against perpetual campaigns. Go figure. He thinks you’re stupid. Anyway, the MSM probably won’t show you Rubio’s response. So I will.

Senator Rubio pointed out that Obama has made everything worse, especially unemployment and the national debt. He asks what Obama plans to do now? Punishing others is Obama’s answer. That’s why people have fled to the US. Now Obama is trying to turn us into the countries whose people have come here to get away from.

Update: See Hot Air for how Obama plans to run on “fairness.” I guess that old expression “Life isn’t fair” is no longer in fashion.

Update 2: Linked by Katy Pundit – thanks!

He’s right, but the younger generation has no conception of fear of the word “communism” let alone what it really is. To them, Che is a hero and the sociopathic homicides he committed are overlooked or were never taught. They believe the Stasi (if they even know who they were) was a great bunch of guys that only shot you with high power rifles if you tried to flee communism and cross the border to freedom, other than that, they left you alone. Yeah, right.

In these times, the people that truly understand freedom are the ones that have escaped its absence.

You are so right. The younger generation has no clue what they are about to loose. So long as they have an i-phone and an x-box, they think they have freedom.

Living here in Germany, we got i-phones and x-boxes too, but nowhere near the amount of freedom currently enjoyed in America.

You are taxed at about 50%-60% just as an average citizen to pay for all the social programs and freeloaders. If you buy a house as I did, you do not decide what color it will be, siding, stucko, logcabin, height, whatever-the neighbors do. Then after you built the thing and it’s done, along comes an inspector and tells you you must change this or that because HE doesn’t like it. NO LIE! You MUST donate a part of your salary to a religous organization for community service…Hell, I could go on all day.

I’m over here (long sad story), and I see my country, America turning into what we got here in Germany. It-is-frightening! It’s why I blog here a lot!

Until our youth experience an earth moving event that wakes them up to what is going on around them, we will never get the drive required of them to save our Republic as a Republic.

It’s different when you’re living in it, isn’t it, rather than being a tourist in a double decker bus thinking it would be so GREAT to live in a place like that where everyone is “equal”….there are losses of American freedoms in Europe that most people can’t even comprehend. Let’s hope America does not become that place where “everyone is equal” because that, in itself, is unfair.

Equal yes and no. Here in the socialist wonderland we still have true elites. Rich european blue bloods that are given preferential treatment. In europe, there is less tolerance than we have in America for foreigners. I know, I’m a foreigner. While in America we accept all nationalities cultures and integrate them into our “melting pot”, here in any of the EU countries, it’s adapt to our way or the high way! Being an ardent conservative, I literally have no true friends. They are fed three channels of news that almost all repeat each other verbatum…and of course it’s socialist liberal drivel. Ask a German what they think of the Tea Party movement in America and they will say they have never heard of them. But according to the news here, we in Amerika just loooooove obama.

Why Would We Want to Become Like the Countries Everyone Else Tries to Escape?

Rubio makes an obvious but good point, but he’s only speaking economics. How about culturally? Does Rubio endorse making English the official language of the United States? Is he against bi-lingual education? Just what is Rubio’s stance on illegal immigration, border security, and amnesty? Half the people walking around my neighborhood now are speaking Spanish in public, as are many of the kids coming out of the public schools in the area. I often wonder what country I’m now living in! While we sure don’t want to be like the old Soviet Union or Cuba, we sure don’t want be like Mexico, El Salvador, and Guatemala either.
