Yesterday President Obama traveled to Ohio to announce the controversial appointment of Richard Cordray to head the new consumer protection bureau. Because in the minds of progressives government can never be big enough, he also announced a new toll-free hotline Americans can call to find out if they received a “fair deal” on their mortgages. You know, because we’re all too stupid to figure that out on our own.

Every closing requires a Federal Financial Disclosure statement to be signed by the purchaser. Yet another ‘federal mandate’ that adds to the attorney’s workload and is therefore, one would expect, added to the attorneys fees. This is designed to ‘disclose’ to the purchaser, all the costs of the loan including interest etc.
So the question is if they didn’t get a ‘fair deal’ WHY DID THEY AGREE TO IT?
Apparently, Democrats think Americans are too stupid to understand what their costs and mortgage payments will be even with this federally mandated ‘disclosure statement.’
And let’s not forget that these purchasers ARE REPRESENTED BY ATTORNEYS. So if it’s ‘not a fair deal,’ whatever that means, or you ‘didn’t understand what you were signing,’ SUE YOUR DAMN LAWYER, you freakin’ morons!!
