Obama’s Bloated Government and Private Equity Hyocrisy

When he signed Obamacare into law, President Obama expanded the federal government to an alarming size. Remember this Obamacare chart? How many new IRS employees and other bureaucrats have they hired to implement this mess?

Another Obamacare chart can be found here, it’s even worse than the one above.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau adds at least 700 new federal employees to the government rolls.

But now Obama wants us to think he’s shrinking and streamlining the federal government. Oh, and he has plenty of praise for government workers. They’re harder-working than you or me, by golly!

And by the way, you won’t meet harder working folks than some of the folks in these federal agencies. They devote countless hours to trying to make sure that they’re serving the American people, but they will tell you their efforts are constantly undermined by an outdated bureaucratic maze.”

He also promised to grab more power from Congress.

“In the coming weeks we’re also going to unveil a new website, Business USA. And this site will be a one-stop shop for small businesses and exporters and will consolidate information that right now is spread across all these various sites so that it’s all in one place, and it is easy to search. So, with or without congress, I’m going to keep at it. But it would be a lot easier if Congress helped.”

And he blamed Richard Nixon for the bloated bureaucracy.

Speaking of Obama the hypocrite, he sent out a fundraising email blasting Mitt Romney for seeking “profit at any cost.” He didn’t mention how many profit-seeking private equity types work for his administration. It doesn’t fit the narrative. Neither does the fact that he’s raised more money from Bain Capital than Mitt Romney. Something tells me he won’t be giving the money back.

Update: Lady Liberty linked – thanks!

And all the additional federal employees in the government health care system will be a mini-Czar in their own right. Building fiefdoms, insulated from direct contact by the very citizenry they master over with life and death decisions. Not like a corporation where you can take your money and shop, but an inescapable complex of ruthless junctures that becomes the only game in town.

Here in Germany, the Doctors are allowed to spend only about 35 Euros ($50) per patient on average. So if you need surgery, then nine other sick people will be given an aspirin and be told to tough it out. My German wife was handled exactly this way when she went in with a dislocated shoulder and arm tendon. The doc told her it would just have to heal on it’s own because he had no more state funds to send her to a specialist. This is our future, bet on it! Thank You Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and BHO, charter members of the United Socialist States of America Club.

I worked in the medical industry and I’m a little confused… 1st: generally dislocated shoulders are set and then heal on their own (often some pain management option is given). Often things are set in the ER and are done. Did the Dr. indicate that there was some surgery that was necessary but being withheld? No private insurance company would pay for unnecessary exams/treatment. 2nd: where is you’re personal responsibility here? If you want extensive (though potentially unnecessary) state-of-the-art treatment you should have to pay for it with supplemental, private insurance or out of pocket. You certainly shouldn’t make everyone else pay for it – That’s exactly where Reid, Pelosi and the big O are wrong too.
