How Obama Buys Votes for Unpopular Legislation

The Heritage Foundation’s Lachlan Markay dug into government records and found a huge spike in earmarks granted to members of Congress around the time of votes on major pieces of legislation. He did note that the practice of giving grants to legislators in exchange for votes isn’t highly unusual (but it should be), but President Obama has done this far more than any other president.

Administrative earmarking refers to the federal government’s allocation of funds from its discretionary budget for specific projects. The practice is less transparent than legislative earmarking, since, according to the Congressional Research Service, “[t]here is no source that defines and comprehensively identifies Administrative earmarks.”

But an analysis of grants from agencies during the early years of the Obama administration shows that the districts of moderate Democrats, whose support was so crucial for Obama during the 111th Congress, received large sums right around the passage of three key pieces of legislation: Obamacare, Dodd-Frank financial regulations, and the cap-and-trade bill.

During the run-up to votes in the House of Representatives for each of those pieces of legislation, the rate of administrative earmarking spiked. This chart shows the number of grants requested by 12 federal agencies, as documented at Grants.gov.

Read the whole thing. Not only did they ram through these rotten pieces of legislation, they used our tax dollars to buy the votes to do it. Disgusting.

We’ve known odumb-dumb has been buying votes since he took office. His arguements for an honest debate that would persuade the American public to accept his policies are so weak, he has no other option than to lie, buy votes-or make voting signatures up-or resurrect the dead to vote…

Well, ya know, Richard Daily sure would be proud of his WH protégée! I’m sure it brings a corrupt tear to his corrupt eye!
    It’s Chicago-land along the Potomac!

newsflash for the historically impaired – back in the bad old days the politicians simply got the voters DRUNK on Rum. So – has anything changed ? And it wasn’t just in Chicago – which did not even exist at the time. Of course, the Press is supposed to expose this corruption, but they are off drinking the kookaid.
