Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle (R-NY) joined a discussion at the Heritage Foundation yesterday and she really hit the nail on the head when it comes to Obamacare. How can anyone be surprised by the mandates coming out of the Department of Health and Human Services after this law was passed? She said the opposition to the mandate for religious organizations to provide free contraceptives to employees is not an issue about birth control, abortion or sterilization. It’s about our First Amendment rights, and she made the point that all of our freedoms are being eroded.
I must say to you I was kinda surprised at how shocked the Catholic Church was when President Obama issued this HHS rule.
The very essence of the health care law, the very essence of it, is that the government will tell you what your health care is going to be. So it is absolutely a logical sequence that we now have the government stepping in and saying, ‘Ok we’re going to pick your conscience issues, we’re going to tell you Catholic Church or were going to tell you Catholic college, what you have to do.”
You look at the president, when he first came into office, he wanted to exclude Fox News from his press corps. That’s a freedom of speech issue. This is the United States of America.
This is the United States of America, the intrusion here is astounding.
You can tick off all of the erosions of our freedom. But the vision, that’s the vision, that the government will tell you what to eat. They’ll tell you whether or not you can access birth control. They’ll tell what your church is going to say, or have to do… or violate your conscience. They’re going to tell you that they know what’s best for you.

Gad… what we need representing us are people who are light years faster on their feet than that.
I’m far from the brightest bulb in the box, but I knew what Obama was about before he was even elected.
That’s the real issue – the three years she’s cost us – not how the dismally predictable socialist media will spin her. We already know the answer to that.

I assumed (bad thing) that she had been in office longer than that.
I generally research things out before I comment, but in this case, I let my disgust in politicians get ahead of my usual methods.
And got dressed down, I might add. Serves me right.
None the less, we’ve all had enough of talking.
You and I… all we can do is talk. But she is an elected representative with far more power than we have. She should be doing much more than repeating herself.

we ought to avoid the passive voice about ‘being eroded’ and point directly at the active – like WHO is deliberately and consciously destroying our rights and freedoms. Start with “separation of church and state” which is a lie – nowhere in the constitution. WHO does not read the bills they vote on. WHY are there unconstitutional riders attached to ‘must pass’ bills, and WHO put them there.
I am really tired of the various talking heads reporting that ‘something is happening’ as if nobody is responsible for it, and thus nobody knows what to DO about it.
