Hey, remember when we were told that ObamaCare would “only” cost about $940 billion? It was still passed against the will of a majority of Americans. Imagine the outcry had people known the true cost. Now we find out that the CBO is predicting it will cost nearly double the initial projection – a whopping $1.76 trillion over the next decade. This isn’t Monopoly money, folks.
Democrats employed many accounting tricks when they were pushing through the national health care legislation, the most egregious of which was to delay full implementation of the law until 2014, so it would appear cheaper under the CBO’s standard ten-year budget window and, at least on paper, meet Obama’s pledge that the legislation would cost “around $900 billion over 10 years.” When the final CBO score came out before passage, critics noted that the true 10 year cost would be far higher than advertised once projections accounted for full implementation.
Read the whole thing, it gets even worse. And if that wasn’t bad enough, read the follow post regarding how many people are expected to lose insurance coverage through their employers and shifted into Medicaid. So much for Obama’s promise that if you like your health insurance you can keep it.
Update: Linked by The Pirate’s Cove and The Other McCain – thanks!

Not a surprise that the highly secretive ObamaCare was posed at a very low price. The actual cost will probably be even higher, possible $% Trillion in 5 years!

Just as almost all economic numbers, or any number for that matter, coming from the permanent government, it has been conjured out of thin air. Particularly egregious in this instance is that the bill was passed with no definitive knowledge of what it contains, therefore there is no true estimate of it’s cost or damage the freedom and liberty of the American people.
This does not lay at the feet of the president, or the democrats, but the entire washington establishment. Both sides of the coin voted for it and to single out one, or the other, is folly. We were ill served by our ( and I use this term very very loosely) representatives.
The true price of the damage done us cannot be limited to a dollar value.
Between bushes patriot act, and obama care, our republic has been dealt a death blow. Don’t misread that, I didn’t say the USA would cease to exist, I mean the representative Republic has been neutered, we have no representation. Period.

The CBO is lowballing it. Wait till you get all the 40 million complaining they dont have ‘equity’ for this and that … EXACTLY LIKE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 40 YEARS ALREADY. Why would that be any different. See the Cloward-Piven aspect ? It is merely more slick than the usual ranting.

Hey, they forgot to tell you about the Jan 1, 2013 implementation of Obama Care’s “Bank Transaction Fee”.
Are you aware that starting in Jan every deposit or cashed check is going to be assessed a 1% transaction fee … Personal, Business all bank accounts are going to suffer this fee.
What else lurks ?

Don’t forget about the tax on sales of houses. I think that was also part of O’Care. What was it, 3%? That’s sure to help spur the housing market.
