Of all people Hollywood could haven chosen to portray Nancy Reagan in a new film, they come up with Jane Fonda. It’s like they’re trying to offend half of America before the movie is even made. Variety has the scoop on the movie that will feature Hanoi Jane:
In the midst of recruiting an all-star ensemble for his long-gestating passion project “The Butler,” director Lee Daniels has tapped Jane Fonda to play Nancy Reagan.
Based on a Washington Post report by Wil Haygood, pic follows Eugene Allen, the White House butler whose career started with Harry Truman in 1952 and ended in 1986 with Ronald Reagan.
Forest Whitaker is closing a deal to play Allen, while Oprah Winfrey remains in talks to play his wife. David Oyelowo is in negotiations to play Allen’s son, while Liam Neeson and John Cusack are circling presidential supporting roles as Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon, respectively. Fonda will appear in a handful of scenes as the first lady of the United States. (Read More)

Well Lee Daniels must be an idiot or a liberal . . . or both, just realized that. There is no other explanation to why you would want to alienate a vast majority of the people that would watch the movie by casting ‘ol Hanoi as Mrs. Reagan.

Maybe he can get Bill Ayres to play Ronald Reagan, and Bernadine to be Pat Nixon, just in case he missed offending any conservative with his Fonda thing. BTW, should it really be against the law to shoot Hanoi Jane?
