Mary Taylor is a school custodian in Wisconsin who was fired for having a sign in her car that says “Stand with Walker,” in reference to the recall efforts against Governor Scott Walker. Taylor said that a number of cars in the school parking lot bore anti-Walker stickers, and teachers started complaining about her sign, causing the janitorial service that employed her to fire her. The school district claims they had nothing to do with it, but her attorney said that the complaints started from the district and he believes they had something to do with it.
She said her manager offered her unemployment or a different job thirty miles from her home. Maggie’s Notebook also reported that Taylor’s car was keyed. So much for free speech.
Here she is on Fox News telling her story.

Ok, just fine. It’s the new civil cold war. Just ask any private business owner who gets laid off first.

So I can assume then that the people who fired Ms. Taylor will understand totally if THEY are fired for not supporting Gov. Walker? They had no regards for a workers freedom of speech and acted on that disregard. Was it legal? I’d think not! But that didn’t stop them. So Gov. Walker, taking a page from their own play book should fire Ms. Taylors former janitorial service from ever working in public sector jobs again. The teachers with the anti-Walker placards are also summarily dismissed until they change their attitude. Does this sound American? But if it works for them, then it should also work against them!

In a parking lot full of cars with anti-Walker stickers that caused no problems for their owners. Nicely fair and balanced.

This is the same thing that the union is trying to so to the governor, Lt governor, and 2 state senators with their recall election!

She is working for a privatized janitorial service and she is fired without recourse. This is precisely why one wants the protection a union provides. Without union protection one worker is disposable at the whim of the boss. Of course she doesn’t understand that because like many in the workforce she has been convinced by the rich and powerful that she is supposed to be disposable. Now that she is free to be poor maybe she can find a union job, unless she believes that she has a “Right To Work For Less.”

Oh yes, I’m sure the union would tolerate her expression of free speech. By the way, I have a bridge to sell you.
