Sandra Fluke must be enjoying her fifteen minutes of fame. The Democrats are ginning up faux outrage and fundraising off a comment made by Rush Limbaugh. Not that he minds, by the way. He’s having plenty of fun with it. Even President Obama called Ms. Fluke to tell her how proud her parents must be, or something. So, who is this young law student?
As it turns out, she’s not just any old twenty-something coed. She’s a thirty year old activist who enrolled at Georgetown because of their policy not to provide free contraception. Jammie Wearing Fools has the details.
For me the interesting part of the story is the ever-evolving “coed”. I put that in quotes because in the beginning she was described as a Georgetown law student. It was then revealed that prior to attending Georgetown she was an active women’s right advocate. In one of her first interviews she is quoted as talking about how she reviewed Georgetown’s insurance policy prior to committing to attend, and seeing that it didn’t cover contraceptive services, she decided to attend with the express purpose of battling this policy. During this time, she was described as a 23-year-old coed. Magically, at the same time Congress is debating the forced coverage of contraception, she appears and is even brought to Capitol Hill to testify. This morning, in an interview with Matt Lauer on the Today show, it was revealed that she is 30 years old, NOT the 23 that had been reported all along.
In other words, folks, you are being played.
Read the whole thing, there are links to the group Law Students for Reproductive Justice where she used to be president. Who comes up with this crap? Reproductive justice? What the heck is that?

On one of the Lethal Weapons movies Sgt Murta(Danny Glover) has a daughter who is an extra on a commercial. The family along with several friends wait in anticipation to see it. The commercial starts and Murta sees his daughter and he is happy until the end when it turns out it is an advertisement for condoms.
Now imagine the relatives of MS. Fluke as they anticipate her time on capitol hill waiting for her testimony. I wonder what the looks on their faces is when she starts talking about how much sex she is having and she can’t afford the cost of birth control. Yes it is. It’s all about she wants to have lots and lots and lots of sex without potential consequences, and she wants someone else to pay for it: either her free birth control or her free abortion. When you DO have values and standards, you do compare people to those and when you find her five inches too short to make the “respect bar”, she’s sluttish. And apparently wants to be so FOR FREE.

They could have easily put in a clause saying “religious institutions that have a moral objection to contraceptives will only have to provide them if they are prescribed for something other than to prevent pregnancy”, if they had said something like that, then I MIGHT believe they were really only concerned about “women’s health”.

If you don’t spend at least 12-14 hours a day, every day, studying hard, going to class, researching in the library, you’re gonna fail. Sex and free condoms aren’t exactly the highest priority.
