The Romney campaign must have loved David Axelrod’s slip of the tongue on Fox News Sunday this morning.
“The choice in this election is between economy that produces a growing middle class and that gives people a chance to get ahead and their kids a chance to get ahead, and an economy that continues down the road we are on . . . . ”
Finally, David Axelrod gets something right.
Watch:
I didn’t catch the slip when I was watching the show. I was looking for video of the entire interview when I found this at Freedom’s Lighthouse. What I noticed is how combative and desperate Axelrod seemed. He kept interrupting Chris Wallace and was nastier than usual. Oh, and when he was asked why President Obama doesn’t voluntarily pay more in taxes he panned the idea of volunteerism and said they don’t run bake sales. Maybe they should.

Update 2: Jennifer Rubin has more on Axelrod’s rough morning with Chris Wallace.
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner also made the news this morning. He pretty much blamed the current state of the economy on Congress, but then spent his time arguing that the economy is great. Or not. I think he’s confused. Who knows, maybe he’s having a hard time working the Turbo Tax.

The choice is economic recovery or catastrophic economic failure. George Soros is betting on the latter! Only dedicated voters can make this change!

I’d say Axelrod’s 29 second comment should be played over and over by the Romney camp until Americans understand Obama is driving the bus over a cliff with the pedal to the metal!

You’re right, LC; Axelrod was nastier and much more animated as well. The President’s numbers should worry them because after four years of emptiness people aren’t buying it any longer. My balance sheet and lifestyle choices were far better back before Obama was President.

Slip of the tongue! More like a slip of the mind. I think they (the administration) know perfectly well what they have done/are doing/will do to the economy. This was just a case of “the truth will out.”

If our Nation ever decides to adopt new war torture techniques, I suggest they consider putting David Axelrod and Debbie W-S in the same room with the prisoner. Sure quick death.
Axelrod has his spiel on auto-speak, going through the motions of nay-saying the Republicans. I don’t see spark in his eyes like he did in 2004. Maybe, just maybe, he’s realizing there’s not much hope left in 2012 for his candidate.

My guess is that Axelrod regurgitated the line that the Obama campaign used in 2008, when they were running against the Republicans. It would fit better in that context.
As left-wingers, their spiel is always to run against the Establishment. They’re always comfortable attacking the Establishment’s record.
They’ve been nonstop dissenters for so long that they can’t deal with actually being the Establishment (having occupied the White House for 4 years now) and having to actually defend their own track record.

Am I the only one who has long noticed the stunning resemblance of David Axelrod to Adolf Hitler? Seriously, someone should do a “separated at birth?” side by side comparison. The two of them also adhere to similar ideologies. Just sayin!
