#DontDoubleMyRate Another Twitter Fail for Obama

President Obama might want to give up on twitter hashtags. They always seem to backfire on him. The latest one is #DontDoubleMyRate. He told his minions to use it to tell Congress to keep student loan interest rates low. Of course, plenty of students are tweeting their versions of “gimme.” But conservatives are having a ball with it, starting with Jim Treacher at the Daily Caller.

Don Surber rounded up a few of the best.

President: “Send your Member of Congress of message… use the hashtag #DontDoubleMyRate” -President Obama

Treacher: #DontEatMyDog RT @whitehouse “Send your Member of Congress of message… use the hashtag #DontDoubleMyRate” -President Obama

Treacher: Dear @BarackObama, how much higher do my electric bills have to get? My grocery bills? My medical bills? #DontDoubleMyRate

Treacher: “Under my plan, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.” — @BarackObama #DontDoubleMyRate #AndWhileYoureAtIt #DontEatMyDog

Treacher: #DontDoubleMyRate, huh? Dear @BarackObama: Why are we paying twice as much for a gallon of gas as we did on the day you were elected?

Okay, now that I’m done laughing, I’m getting mad that we’re actually paying someone in the White House to send out these tweets.
