I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried. Good grief. An elderly British woman was told by her general practitioner’s office that she would have to find a new physician because her two-mile round trip ride to their office leaves too much of a carbon footprint. Two miles! What’s she supposed to do, find a practice on her block?
The woman is 83 years old, and has been going to the practice for 30 years, reports the Daily Telegraph.
The letter said: “Our greatest concern is for your health and convenience but also taking into consideration green travelling issues. Re: Carbon footprints and winter weather conditions, we feel it would be advisable for patients to register at surgeries nearer to where they live.
“We would be very grateful if you could make the necessary arrangements to re-register at another practice.”
Mrs Mulcahy, a grandmother, believes the decision was made because she complained about a doctor.
“When I read through the letter, I found it absolutely ridiculous they were saying the reason was to decrease their carbon footprint,” she said. “I have been a patient at the practice for 30 years now, and there has never been any problem.
Read the whole thing. Remember, the Democrats would love nothing more than British style health care. Beware.

Coming soon to a socialist government run medical program near you!
And since odumb-dumb can’t be outdone, better hope your next door neighbor is a GP, surgeon, cancer specialist, pediatrics specialist…you get the idea!

US health care systems like Tricare are using similar arguments to handle primary care providers. They have a zip code mapping system, which shows how far a primary care provider is from the patient, and try to minimize the distance, even if the patient has to pay higher copay fees. The carbon footprint is the major consideration!

They’re using the public schools as a model? You’re stuck with the “neighborhood” school even if you’d rather send your kids to a better school in the next town. Extending that model to doctors doesn’t seem like much of a stretch given the econut propensity for top-down control of our lives. Because just like teachers, one doctor is just as good as another, right?
