A month ago everyone was thinking that tonight was going to be a huge night in the Republican presidential primary. Now, eh, not so much. Mr. LC and I went to vote at 7:00 PM and after we both cast our ballots the grand total at our polling place was forty votes. Our town has a population of almost 26,000 and we have 27 polling places. There was no Democrat primary here, and I don’t feel like doing the math, but you get the idea – turnout was really low. Polls close here at 9:00.
Mitt Romney has already been declared the winner in Connecticut and Rhode Island by wide margins. The same will probably be true here in New York, and it looks like he’s going to win Pennsylvania.
There’s some chatter about the possibility of Newt squeaking out a victory in Delaware. Delaware was just called for Romney, too. He’s supposed to give a big speech tonight, but apparently the networks won’t be covering it. I’ll post video once it’s available.
There’s been quite a bit of VP speculation going on, expect it to really pick up after today.
Update: Mitt just took the stage for his big victory speech in New Hampshire. Fox News is airing live.
Update 2: Sweep – As expected, Romney won all of the contests tonight. I was going to go look for video of his speech, but I got distracted. Who knew there was a candidate in the race that would make us all hot, or something?
