According to House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, the Obama administration was aware of the lavish GSA conference in Las Vegas for eleven months. It wasn’t until videos came to light that actions were taken. Now they’re blaming Bush.
The Obama administration is responding to the recent report that shows a federal agency spent more that $800,000 on a lavish conference near Las Vegas by putting some of the blame on the Bush administration.
“At least we have taken, bold, swift forceful action to hold those responsible accountable and put in place protections to make sure this never happened again,” a White House official told Fox News. (Read More)
Eleven months is swift? And if it was bad under Bush, why is it alright that it got much worse under Obama?
Update: Linked by Scared Monkeys and The Pirate’s Cove – thanks!

A car is being driven to a cliff, with over two miles yet to go, and with a perfectly working car and all the time in the world a new driver takes over, steps on the gas and plummets over the side. And yet it’s the first drivers fault? Only an idiot could throw that one out there.
Do the people who voted odumb-dumb in three years ago have guilt pangs or reoccurring nightmares of shooting themselves in the head?
…the cost of the Western Regional Conference increased sharply under the Bush White House — from $93,000 in 2004 to $323,855 in 2006 to $655,025 in 2008, then $840,616 in 2010, or just 28 percent under Obama.

1) The 2010 conference budget was set by agency personnel in February 2009 (less than 30 days after Obama took office) 2) Neely was promoted and appointed to the position under Bush in 2003 3) by your own admission, the budget skyrocketed, unchallenged, under Bush’s watch…
Sorry, but this particular problem is just another one of Bush’s legacies.

While this is a shame, especially since it was done by the very agency in charge of making the spending regulations for all other agencies to follow to prevent such abuse, it’s peanuts in contrast to the huge amount of fraud, waste, and abuse across all Federal agencies in a multitude of various programs.
But that’s besides the point. Examples like this are probably the main reason why Ron Paul has gotten the most donations from federal workers and members of the military out of any of the other candidates. I know, I know, there are many reasons why Republicans or conservatives don’t like his approach to shrinking big government and I’ve heard them all.
But the sad fact is that even those in the system with a conscience who would be the best stewards of taxpayer dollars can’t speak out to fix the system from within because whistleblower and fraud, waste, and abuse programs are a joke. Few stick their necks out lest they be branded as not being a team player which destroys their career. Sort of like the “thin blue line” with cops – you cross it, you’re out. They know the system is hard broke and none of the other candidates have any plans to even attempt to fix it. Of course we hear next to nothing about these breakouts in campaign donations from the MSM since it was last reported on way back in November.

So much for hope & change, we got shove and blame.
Also, people from Bush admin say that the numbers the Obama admin provided from the Bush’s GSA conferences have been cooked to look worse than they really are!
