I’m still wondering what planet President Obama is living on, since it sure isn’t this one. Reactions to his line “The private sector is doing fine” have been swift.
The Romney campaign set up an Obama is Doing Fine Twitter account. Mitt Romney himself was also quick to respond, calling the remark an “Historic error” and noting how out of touch Obama is with the American people.
“He’s defining what it means to be detached and out of touch with the American people.”
James Pethokoukis pointed out all of the ways the private sector is not doing fine.
VodkaPundit probably had the best line of the day: “I guess the only thing you say to a President that deluded is: “There you go again.””
It’s getting really difficult to listen to this man day in and day out.

Update: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell agrees that President Obama is living on another planet.

This chart shows the gains and losses in jobs in both the public and private sectors, month by month:

As you can see, there has been positive job growth in the private sector over the last 2 years or so. But as you can also see, it is nowhere near enough to compensate for the huge job losses that took place in 2008-2009.
Conversely, the public sector had minimal job losses in 2008-2009. (Civil servants can’t easily be laid off.) But as the economic slump continued, job losses in the public sector became significant in the period 2010-2011. *BUT* as you can also see, those job losses are dwarfed by the job losses in the private sector, and even dwarfed by the *net* job losses in the public sector even when recent job gains are included.
It’s easy to reach the wrong conclusion if you start from an artificial baseline.
(For example: If the stock market were to decline by 50%, and then rise by 50% from that point, would it have gotten back to even?)

Well, Obama’s not exactly an expert on the private sector, having never been a part of it. He has no experience in it, and apparently not much knowledge of it. All he knows is how to “organize” against it.
The same can be said of almost all the leading Democrats. Hardly any of them have ever held a private sector job. They know gov’t, politics, and left-wing ideology. They know how to obtain “revenues” and “funds” and “resources” from the taxpayer; they don’t know what it takes to produce a good or service that people want or need, at a fair price that people are willing pay. Which is why they’re suffocating our economy.
Save America. Give the Dems the heave.

I think Obozo is trippin’ again. It is good to see Romney didn’t take long to stick it to the administration. How soon they forgot how they stuck it to McCain in 2008.
