Batman Massacre is Already Being Politicized

A few hours ago a madman opened fire in a Colorado movie theater, killing at least twelve innocent people. The tragedy is still unfolding, but some people just couldn’t wait to exploit the massacre for political purposes. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg came out this morning and demanded that President Obama and Mitt Romney tell the people what they plan to do about gun violence.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has emerged as one of the nation’s highest-profile supporters of gun control, demanded on Friday that the presidential candidates “stand up and tell us what they’re going to do about” mass shootings.

Asked about the Colorado mass shootings at a movie theater showing “The Dark Knight Rises” in Aurora, Colo., that killed at least 12 people, Bloomberg said politicians needed to offer policy proposals in addition to prayers and sympathy.

“Soothing words are nice,” Bloomberg said during an interview on WOR News Talk Radio 710 in New York City. “But maybe it’s time the two people who want to be president of the United States stand up and tell us what they’re going to do about it, because this is obviously a problem across the country. And everybody always says, ‘Isn’t it tragic?’”

CNN’s Piers Morgan also chimed in.

If there’s an American tragedy, within hours you can always expect our corrupt media to feast on the corpses of the victims in order to push their left-wing political agenda. …

Case in point, CNN’s Piers Morgan who is already exploiting 12 deaths and dozens injured to push for gun control:

“Horrendous details from this Colorado cinema shooting. America has got to do something about its gun laws. Now is the time.” …. (Read More)

Read the replies to one of his tweets. Imagine if even one law-abiding person in that theater had a gun. Perhaps the death toll would be a lot lower.

Addendum: It was just reported that a six year old girl just died, bringing the death toll up to 13.

Update: Why don’t these liberals ever complain about the explicit violence in these movies? Do they ever stop to think that maybe a culture of violence promoted by their friends is the problem?

Update 2: Good grief, ABC News is already trying to tie the gunman to the Tea Party.
