This is just too funny. A Democrat in North Carolina was tired during a vote to override the governor’s veto of a bill allowing fracking. She was so tired, she accidentally voted for the override and was the deciding vote. Oops!
State House lawmakers have apparently accidentally legalized fracking in North Carolina, due to a deciding vote one Democrat says was a mistake.
Rep. Becky Carney, D-Mecklenburg, says she did not intend to cast the key vote that overrode the governor’s veto of the bill.
The vote was 72-47, exactly the number needed for an override. Without Carney’s vote, the veto would have been sustained.
Carney characterized her vote as “very accidental.”
“It is late. Here we are rushing to make these kind of decisions this time of night,” she said.
Carney pointed out that she has voted against fracking in the past, and said she spent the day lobbying other Democrats to uphold the veto of Senate Bill 820.

I don’t think it was “accidental”. I think that she has had enough and decided to stand up as a brave moderate, bucking the extremist, beat-down progressives in the Democrat Party. How very patriotic of her. I hope others will be as courageous and step out against the Democrat radicals and help move our country forward.

It really was accidental!! She has voted against fracking in the past and spent the day lobbying other Senators to uphold the veto!! She even tried to switch her vote but thanks to some quick thinking and a maneuver called a “clincher” her vote remained the deciding one!!

RALEIGH — An environmental group said Tuesday it was rescinding an award presented to a North Carolina House member who voted to override Gov. Beverly Perdue’s veto of legislation to permit the form of shale gas exploration and production called “fracking.”
The House narrowly voted late Monday to override the veto when first-term Rep. Susi Hamilton, D-New Hanover, and five other House Democrats sided with Republicans to cancel Perdue’s veto.
The North Carolina League of Conservation Voters says it will take the unusual step of asking Hamilton to return a “Rising Star” award she received two weeks ago that praised the first-term legislator’s pro-environmental record.
A second of the six, Rep. Becky Carney of Mecklenburg County, said she made a mistake when she pressed the green button at her desk to vote to override rather than the red “no” button. She tried to get her vote changed — which would have prevented the override — but the chamber’s operating rules don’t allow vote changes that would affect the outcome.
