Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle had a big rally this morning at her campaign headquarters in Syracuse, NY. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the NRCC, made an appearance. “We’ve got the will to win,” he told the crowd before explaining what he was doing here in Upstate New York. “Ann Marie knows this, I only have time for winning campaigns.” If the work of the campaign volunteers is any indication, Buerkle will win again in November. They have made over 100,000 phone calls already, and hit the streets after the rally to knock on doors.
Ed Cox, the Chairman of the New York Republican Party was there as well, he and the other speakers stressed how important it is to defeat the Democrats in the upcoming election.
Tom Dadey got the crowd fired up, asking “We’re not the party of hatred are we?” He was alluding to some comments made by Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner. He also noted that Dan Maffei has been telling some lies about his record in Congress. He was only there two years before the voters fired him, but he sure did help make a mess of things. Here’s the video.
Rep. Buerkle addressed her supporters and thanked them for all of their hard work. She talked about the “disconnect” between the federal bureaucracies and the people trying to make a living out here. She addressed Dan Maffei’s attacks on her on education, “I say, Dan, I’ve got thirteen grandchildren, I get education and I get that the current education system is failing. It’s morally failing our children.” As usual, she spoke from the heart without a teleprompter. Watch:
