It took Republican leadership long enough to come out in support of Rep. Allen West in his calls for a recount of the ballots in the last election.
The Republican Party of Florida is backing Rep. Allen West’s call for a recount of all early votes in St. Lucie County, saying it would be “unconscionable” not to answer lingering questions about the results — which show Mr. West trailing Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy.
“The supervisor of elections owes it to the people that elected her to count all of their votes that were cast early in the 2012 election cycle,” party Chairman Lenny Curry said in a statement Thursday. “She has already admitted there was a problem with the counting process and announced she would count all the votes. It makes no sense to arbitrarily cut off the counting process before it was finished.”
The latest count shows Mr. West 1,900 votes behind Mr. Murphy, but the incumbent points to problems with St. Lucie, where officials have already recounted ballots from three days of early voting, but where Mr. West wants a full count.
His complaints about the race are beginning to gain broader attention, with Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner dispatching auditors to examine voting in St. Lucie. And on Wednesday, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus issued a statement saying he backs Mr. West’s call for an early-ballot recount, saying that’s the best way to convince voters the election was fair. If only they would do something about the voting irregularities that went on all over the country. (Zilla has a new post about that today.)

Yes LC it’s about time that the Republican Party quit looking like bystanders at a fire!
The progressives are running away with stolen elections and the Republicans act like soul searching is the only solution! Progressives like stealing elections like a bully takes candy from a baby!
It’s time for action not for hand wringing!

It is about time. It would have been even better if the GOP Leadership in Florida had not been the ones who gerrymandered West’s district so as to put him in this predicament. Forgive me if I doubt their sincerity. I don’t think they want an honest, independent man like West in Congress any more than the Dems do.

To the GOP RINO permanent political class establishment, their #1 enemy is their own base- the grass roots Tea Party people that put them into positions of leadership, power, authority, and office..
These RINO’s- Boehner, McConnell, Cantor, etc, must all be removed from their leadership power, and replaced with Tea Party Conservatives, period.
