If you’re one of the many Americans who lost your job in the post-election layoff frenzy, or have been out of work thanks to President Obama’s jobless recovery, there’s good news for you. You can join one of the Obama administration’s jobs clubs. Now, you won’t make any money, but, by golly, you will feel better about the dismal situation you face.
Have you ever heard of the Obama administration’sOffice of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers?
The obscure office on Thursday will join the Labor Department’s Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships in hosting a symposium on “the important role of job clubs and career ministries in getting Americans back to work.”
The Labor Department, in a news release issued the day after Obama’s election victory, said the symposium in Hales Corners, Wis., will highlight the work of local job clubs, including how they can be run effectively.
Job clubs and career ministries allow people who don’t have jobs to talk about jobs. They do not create jobs.
Who knows, maybe through one of these jobs clubs you can find out about a jobs fair run by someone like Rahm Emanuel. You won’t get a job at one of those either, or even a WalMart gift card, but that’s okay. You see, after waiting in line for hours you will be told how to apply for a job thousands of other job seekers are also applying for. Don’t you just love this Obama economy? It doesn’t matter if you can’t find a job, as long as you believe the ones you elect care and identify with you. Welcome to the economy so many of you voted for. Enjoy!

You hit the heart of the problem. These people aren’t concerned with bettering themselves or the country. They just want equality, even if that means equal suffering. Everyone should be brought down to their level and if anyone is too successful it an offense to their lack of ability. They hold political positions based on emotions rather than logic. I always use the metaphor, proposing a social program without an economic foundation is like hiring an artist to design a house. It doesn’t matter how beautiful it is if it’s structurally unstable.

We have this type of “job club” here in Massachusetts. The only good paying jobs, with lots of benefits and a pension, I’ve ever seen anyone get at this place are held by the government employees working there. Everyone else who goes there looking for a job, gets to choose which part time, minimum wage fast food joint they want to work…if they’re qualified.

@Bob In my experience, most. As a matter of fact, the guy who gave my wife her naturalization exam in Boston (his accent sounded Kenyan…her mother tongue is Russian) was barely intelligible and he spat as he spoke. Plus, he browbeat her regarding our relationship. Specifically, whether or not we lived together now, and planned to stay together in the near future and any other ulterior motives he felt she might have for becoming a U.S. citizen. It was not a pleasant experience for her, but she passed the exam despite the examiner’s badgering because she knew the material.
In contrast, the woman taking her test in the adjacent cubicle, was being prompted on almost every question until she came up with the right answers. The examiner and the applicant were of similar ethnicity, and I’ll leave it at that.
On a personal note: The feelings that went through me when my wife left the examination room crying and visibly shaken will never be forgotten. Especially when we have a president who has decreed de facto amnesty for 11 million + illegal aliens whose prime interest in coming to this country is to get “free stuff” and kill us.
