Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you enjoy the day and are spending it with the people you love.
How’s this for a blast from the past? A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving!

a Happy one to you too. Got the stringbean casserole going, with the potatos and yams and Acorn squash. Of course I had to check alternet – they have a thing on how to cook with cannabis for thanksgiving, which they say is a white racist blah blah blah holiday. I was wondering why those nuts are so weird. And forget soaking the turkey in brine. Ugh – tastes too salty. In fact, I think it is time to get out William Bradford’s History of Plymouth Plantation and read about the first Thanksgiving.

Have a happy Thanksgiving too – I’m thankful for Karen allowing me to contribute to this fine blog and share my conservative perspective and opinions with the ever expanding LC universe. Everyone have a wonderful blessing filled day.
Here are some words from Lincoln to help put the day into perspective:
…It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow-citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens.
And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners, or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the imposition of the Almighty hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it, as soon as may be consistent with the divine purpose, to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility, and union.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, LC, and to my “brothers and sisters from other mothers” here on your blog. I and thankful, this year, to know that I am not alone in all this craziness, thankful for those who are still alive and well in my life, thankful to have had the love and relationships I did with the people who are no longer at our table, thankful that I have found friends who are honest, hardworking, able people who are grateful for all that they have rather than complaining about whatever they don’t. The SPIRIT of America is still here, if a bit harder to see these days. Hope everyone has a truly blessed day. Now back to prepping the enormous pomegranate salad for me! Cheers, everyone!
