President Obama is considering asking Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) to serve as his next defense secretary, part of an extensive rearrangement of his national security team that will include a permanent replacement for former CIA director David H. Petraeus.
Although Kerry is thought to covet the job of secretary of state, senior administration officials familiar with the transition planning said that nomination will almost certainly go to Susan E. Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
You’d think Rice would be sent packing after her disastrous appearances in the aftermath of the Benghazi attack. But that would only happen in a sane world.
At least Kerry will be out of the Senate, if that’s any consolation.
Update: No consolation here: It looks like Eric Holder is going to stay on as Attorney General. Ugh.
So the guy who lied about his awards and called American troops baby killers will head the military – sounds about right for the most radical administration in history.

He accused and publicly convicted young Marines in Haditha of rape and pillaging in 2005 which were proven false, but ruined their careers.
