This video by Demonocracy puts the national debt into perspective, showing what $16 trillion in $100 bills looks like. Also, check out the infographic they put together, which is even more alarming. Even my kids get what a problem this is, yet all Obama wants is the unilateral ability to continue adding to those towers of debt.

They don’t care because it’s all inconsequential in the bigger scheme and machinations of the overall system set up to move wealth out of your hands into someone else’s.
Simply put, the budget deficits and accumulating national debt are dwarfed by the balance sheets of the overall economy. For example, 16 trillion may be less than what US households lost in wealth due to the housing bubble and stock market crash of ’08. John Rutledge adds some perspective here:

The national debt isn’t really the problem, just a diversion to hide what really needs attention. Balancing the budget won’t solve the problem. The problem is the system of crooks devising more ingenious ways to steal from you what you’ve earned like a magician without you even knowing it’s gone, so most of you leave this world with little more than what you came into it with – nothing.
