Gee, who could have seen this coming?
California State Controller John Chiang has announced that total state revenue for the month of November 2012 fell $806.8 million, or 10.8%, below budget.
Democrats thought they could hammer “the rich” by convincing voters to pass Proposition 30 to create the highest state income tax in the nation. But it now appears that high income earners have already “voted with their feet” by moving themselves and their businesses out of state, resulting in over $1 billion shortfall in corporate and income taxes last month and the beginning of a new financial crisis.
Passage of Proposition 30 set off euphoria and expectations of higher spending for public employees. The California Teachers’ Association (CTA) trumpeted: “California students and working families won a clear victory today as voters clearly demonstrated their willingness to invest in our public schools and colleges and also rejected a deceptive ballot measure aimed at silencing educators, other workers and their unions.” (Read More)
The rich always find a way to avoid high taxes. It’s the middle class they’re really after. Most of us can’t afford to pack up and leave, or hire expensive tax attorneys and accountants. Just wait. They’re coming for us next.

@lonelycon The whole point is for businesses to make money. It just baffles me that this doesn’t compute with the liberal mindset

This is obvious conservative propaganda! No one wants to pay more taxes. But! The cost of running government and paying for the services has to be financed. This is cart before the horse mentality. FIRST the citizens need to agree on the services to be provided, then budget those services through taxation. If the rich don’t want to pay their share, let them move out of state, eventually an equilibrium will be reached. That’s why I live in Mexico.

Wow, David! You’re quite a patriot. You’re excuse of “water seeking its own level” has been tried before and the level just keeps lowering as the politicos mine for more wealth to grab. Stay in Mexico and never return, you shameless coward.

@lonelycon This is a completely new fiscal system, it’s called “tax & spend.” It’s great, because it has no end. Until there’s no one to tax
